Fixed Legendary Chest Bug, or Created a Problem?

Okay so the latest patch notes say Funcom has fixed the bug that allowed people to open legendary chests without using a key (which is great). However, it seems like not too long ago, 3-skull world bosses stopped dropping keys, so how are we supposed to open the chests now? Is this an oversight or is there another way to get keys on Siptah that I am unaware of?

Any help is welcomed.

No guys, the bosses on EL are fine. It’s the bosses on Siptah that don’t drop keys. At least not for me.

Even before this patch, the world boss in siptah sometime don’t drop the key.

Exactly, before this patch (might have been 2.3 or 2.4) Funcom decided the world bosses would stop dropping keys on Siptah.

If you give me a name of said bosses, I can look at their tables.

Thank you Multigun but Conan doesn’t effectively give players the names of the mobs they are fighting. Just earlier today I fought the Scorpion Queen (appears to be the same character model as in the Silver mine) and she didn’t drop a key. I also fought 2 different 3-Skull salamander looking bosses (on the West Beach) that have the tail spin attack with knockback, and neither of them dropped a key. Again, I am referring to the Siptah map. I specifically remember one of the previous patches removed keys from bosses and I am hoping keys will either be added back in or a list of bosses that DO drop keys can be published. I hope my vague descriptions are of some help to you. Thanks in advance for your help @Multigun.

The Scorpion Queen in the sandy inlet east of the Layshrine of the Fiends. Are you saying that you ARE getting keys from bosses (just not the ones I am fighting). Tell me which bosses I need to fight then and that solves my problem.

The colloquial name for spinny salamander boss is Saucy McDbag. He makes burritos for Xanarus at Xpotle.

I am sorry, while you are correct that the names of monsters aren’t really displayed, I am not at all familiar with Siptah. And the descriptions you gave me would have me wondering around for hours on end and that’s just not time I can spend.

You say drop, but do you mean harvest? Because keys are harvested not dropped.

Yes, poor choice of words on my part. I do mean harvested keys.

Just killed both lizard bosses around red mother, both gave keys with pick axe.

Near the Red Mother? Okay! I wonder if they changed it to ‘a chance to drop.’

The Scorpion Queen has never dropped a skeleton key. She drops other things, but not a key. The Scorpion King drops the key.

Okay I killed the Scorpion King and he DID drop a key for me. Thank you all for your help. I was beginning to think I would never find a key. Feels weird that on Siptah only certain bosses drop keys while on EL they all do (except the Queen perhaps).

Thanks again for everyone’s help. :+1:

I do not have IoS yet, but I play with Savage wilds mod, which ports some of the bosses from that expansion. Namely the giant bear and the lacerta does not always drop keys.

@DaVice you mean this one?

The lacerta coordinates (probably, I just googled for an interactive map):

  • TeleportPlayer -180862.53125 308769.3125 -20437.25
  • TeleportPlayer -240364.875 255542.703125 -20039.425781
  • TeleportPlayer -354793 51761.457031 -13499.767578
  • TeleportPlayer -57029.390625 204458 -19966.029297

@Multigun probably this helps. Or today later I will kill them and see their true names, I have Hosav’s custom UI mod which allows the game to show me the slaughtered enemies’ names!
