Foundation stability bug (PC)

Anybody else get serious eye twitch at that amount of foundations? What is that over a thousand easily? Oh boy…

In the future you should really consider using walls and ceilings to fill your desired size. There’s a reason most private servers have rules limiting the use of foundations.

What!!!? You mean we can not build in this game? o.O
This is just the outline of the base, walls, towers and everything else,
will come when the layout is done.

But hey, let us all build a 4x4x2base and then enjoy the scenery.

No, I’m not saying that what so ever and have absolutely no idea where you got the idea that I said you should do a small base or don’t build. That would be extremely out of character of me, considering what mods I maintain and work on.

I’m saying you should use walls and ceilings instead of 1,000 + foundations to fill in your inner area. You can use foundations along the outer edge, but then use a combination of walls, ceilings, and pillars to fill in the rest.

Instead, you took a billion foundations that will never see the light of day and used it to fill in. Essentially, you used 10x the amount of mesh and socket data that you didn’t need to, which is going to cost you in performance, both client and server.

There is allways someone or some way to do things better. But, as far as i know, might be wrong here, we should be out of early access. Thus funcom should expect some load on their servers. Not gonna argue about the finess of building, i can allways do things better, and i most likely will on my next build. But i will not make a paperhouse because some kid playing from the outer rims of Mongolia and are powering the PC on a ripe potato and are complaining about lag. The spot was vacant, so now i’m going full out like the rest of the players.

You can only do so much optimizations. A polygon is still a polygon, regardless of if it’s Conan Exiles, Ark, or anything else. Feel free to do whatever you want.

I will ofcourse enjoy the game to the full. But regarding your comment, if only funcom somehow had an improved version of their code somewhere, not being pushed by some inverstors or anything (would not happen in real life) and given time to do what they know and can and have shown. I guess then maybe we could be building freely in this sandbox without being called out for doing something we all love to do. Play the game as it is intended…

Jhkaun, there is a difference between building and building smart. Try to take the time to plan out your projects for functionality, cost and performance. Spamming foundations just because you can obviously cost you time spent on the boards which could have been used enjoying the game.

I wish you nothing but joy in your endeavors in game.

thanks, the use of spamming foundations here isn’t random, i do have a plan. I do not want a paperhouse that will get demolished by the first purge coming my way either. Sorry for being so selfish that i don’t care about performance, should i really have to build smaller or a paper build because someones code/server can’t handle it? As stated before, this isn’t early access anymore, it is a finished product, thus it should be able to handle users doing what they are supposed to do. Build. Someone at funcom must have some notion onto what UX entails. Don’t get me wrong, i enjoy the game. But i do get a tiny bit annoyed when people say that I should not do this and that because the poor servers will have a mental breakdown if i push the performance limitations. It just looks like a bad Meatloaf parody. “you can do anything you want, but dont do that!”

No one’s here is trying to be rude, disrespectful, or any of the like, and what they are talking about goes beyond the game itself to the servers that run the game. The servers can only handle so much before they crash. And the foundation load is a lot of that. While i agree certain things can probably be streamlined gamewise to help performance that doesn’t change where the link bogs down. I would like to see where your build goes as i enjoy seeing everyone’s builds whether it be character builds or base builds. I think they were more pointing out this to help you more than tell you not to do what your doing. I run a highend pc and still have the occasional lag and rendering issue from large builds loading from the server.

To all that has or have followed this post, i apologize if i have come forth as ill tempered or harsh.
This is a post made to highlight a bug that i encountered and should therefor contain feedback regarding said topic. I might build like a drunk blacksmith with severe hungover, but that’s just life. Let us move on please.

I am still wondering where the issue lies as i had said earlier in the post before we got off topic i haven’t myself had an issue but a friend did his was only with the black ice though.

My thoughts on it is:

#1
Residue from earlier constrution serverside interfered with the build/laying of foundation (based on pattern.)

#2
Somehow, spawns of threes, branches, flowers interfered with constructions. (I did not remove anything but wood/stone before laying down foundation on ground level.)

#3
Buildspeed as mentioned in the post / replies, laying foundation in a fast manner spasm out the server and the foundation is given the wrong value. (tho, not sure why this should spread over time.)

Rest is just food for thought.

edit… added

Here we go again:

Only 1 affected foundation this time(so far). Removed foundations down to the ground again.

Location:
TeleportPlayer -227501.0625 -158038.28125 -464.267334

And another one, not sure where tho due to server isn’t online atm.
My latest guess is that this area was earlier a part of a meteor impact area. Tho i have never seen anything land here, i asume that this may be caused by a ghost meteor from an earlier stage of the map layout. I will let the devs answer this as i only specualte in this matter.

Why not buy some insecticides for the devs to kill all the roaches in the game? Lol but seriously tho it’s ok to speculate n provide em theories n ideas of what might be causing the issues to help em pin point the problem n try to fix it

Let’s scrap that last asumption. logged on and spent an eternity finding that one piece that had 0 stability. Once i found it, i did as usuall, demolish onto the ground. this time however, it spread like the plague as i demolished, and even more as i removed the newly infected ones.

Please send more devs this way >.<

They are in rendering range yes. What happened this time is that i could not find the first affected foundation and thus could not demolish it to the ground. This resulted in infected foundation throughout the server restart and then it just spread.

@Kumiko savegame?

edit: @Kumiko

I’m having the same bug on a daily basis now, i’m not posting more *jpg, you get the idea…
To be honest i’m just tired of the whole thing now.

Latest, woke up to this, had to remove quite alot today:

Still spreading as i demolish:
