Fuel Adjustments

I noticed when starting fresh another time that coal spawns are very infrequent in some areas and an unreliable fuel source, maybe up the timer? And thinking off that same idea on fuel adjustments, what if witchfire was a fuel source, had an hour timer or however? Why not use the current tiered lighting for tiered fuel. Radium could have a 2 hour burn timer. And that would add a lot of detail and fun to grinding all around. People would now have a need to make witchfire for efficiency. And oil could start being used specifically for insulated wood, while coal is for lighting. When the player reaches that tier of course. Just an idea, feedback appreciated. Have a great day exiles, and a better event tomorrow

Coal is chump change. Use dried wood. You can get it from the dead trees in the desert areas as well as making it in a drying rack. It has an amazing burn time second only to oil. Where are you living that has so little coal? I have never had an issues of running out of coal. The nods are all over the place. I would recommend expanding your gathering radius a bit.

Well dried wood is useful for insulated wood. Especially around nordheimer areas where I am. But still the main point is, maybe just adjust the burn timer on coal to be a little longer. Other than that I’d just love to see that whole system being added onto. I believe the system would be easy as the resources are already in game, with witchfire and radium.

If you need your dried wood for other purposes then just lay out a ton of fish traps. Oil burns just as good and is SUPER easy to get from the traps.

Yeah from 28 onward, oil is the be-all, end-all fuel source. Assuming you have water anywhere near your base (and probably even if you don’t). :oil_drum:

ive been trying to put fish traps in the Mitra Well or water well to no avail.
if anyone manages to do that please let me know how - so far, i can just about place 2 dancing thralls splish-splashing around the perimeter of the well

Yeah, that doesn’t work any more (I think it used to? Never did it myself though).

I love any sort of emergent gameplay like that, especially if it means people are free to live wherever they want, without it being an almost absolute necessity to live on or near water.

ah mikey, i have to go but i will take some screens of my base to show you, ive been living basically in the desert for most of the sessions, at one point trying to get enough iron and tar to make a well, and found that (luckily) i had picked up tons of dessert berries on the way, and was able to make several drinks via the press  and just about managed to build the well. now i put up 1 or 2 mitra wells, but they only give you like 4 sips (or flask refills) and then you have to wait

You guys are really missing the point lol. I don’t want to use dried woos or oil. They are now useful for insulated wood. And that’s inflicting on my own efficiency build mats wise. So, I’m saying, now that oil isn’t just a fuel source, maybe it’s time to adjust fuel. Any comments on that directly or just how easy oil is to get? And that’s sarcasm no more redundancy please.

if you don’t want dried wood or oil then use coal. not sure why you want to go that route but hey whatever. best fuels is dried wood and oil. both are easy to obtain in large numbers.

We’re telling you that the game doesn’t have to change just to fit your own desires. Need more fuel? Drop more fish traps. No redundancy please, stop asking.

If FC increased the burn time of coal so that you would never have to think about using anything else, where’s the strategy? The entire point of this game is survival, and using your given resources strategically is a core feature. Otherwise, just open a private server and max out your settings.

My clan and stop using coal once we get a decent oil production going, I just wish we could use all the resin from making dried wood but hey oil is easier.
