And how much do you spend a month?

I do not see hostility torwards Funcom but what I see is anger. Anger that has established over time.

And if you think this started with Conan Exiles, no, it started way before. Because Funcom has a long history of failing, abusing and lying to their customers. Not just in this game. And people remember.

Conan Exiles is a good game overall but it doesn´t run very well, never has and never will. This game was their last chance to get out of the deep red numbers. It was released way to quick. The game was a pure lag fest from the beginning and with every update it got worse and worse. All the stuff they added over time may please people but performance wise its a catastrophy. And you can see and feel it more and more. It takes ages until your base and surroundings load in, you get a lot of disconnects, you get lags and setback and microlags, the npc´s lag and warp, sometimes not respond etc. even with a good pc you get a poor performance. And performance is key to everything else.

People do accept a lot when they love a game but there comes a point where they start to feel the game is unplayable for them. Fixing a bug here and there is not enough. Not when you look at the current bazar prices. People expect results, expect improvements performance wise and there are non. If you have problems you have to go to Zendesk which turns out to be useless in most cases. They stale you, they ignore you, you get automated responses that do not even match the topic you are writing about etc. And they do this until you give up. If you come to this forum you won´t get any help from the developers. All you get is shallow responses that you need to contact Zendesk.

All content (chapters) created since 3.0 only have the goal to make hugh profit for Tencent. Do you think anybody really needs a robot in Conan when a thrall could do the same tasks? Do you really think that it takes another type of npc to lay the base for improving the existing ones? No! They could have taken that time it took to create the robots to directly go for a thrall behavior overhaul. Why? Because soon you will be able to buy seperate robot skins and workstation skins and maybe new robot parts. While your thralls share the same amore skins with you. Every new content right now has the only goal to make profit. Its not to make the game better, its not to improve performance. There is a hugh difference in content that makes a game better and content that only serves the purpose to make a cooporation rich.

You kinda pointed it out yourself.

Invested.

Hours if not years, only to get Updates that don’t run great for months on end… over and over and over.
If your on PC, you get fast updates, if Your on Console… there reasons, (valid ones) and Not so…valid ones we get **** Updates.

There Supporting Funcom, and then there reminding them to put Better Effort into Consoles. (according to various sources of numbers, were a huge chunk of population is)

They’ve done better? Yes…ish…sorta. There not getting pat on back from me for these updates working right.

Some Forums users are abit more hostile. I try to just be there, pointing out issues. Thou… I’m not there “free” Tester.
I payed for a working game, and expect a working game.

Yes, but still has some boring choices, that don’t matter on which you pick feeling like a waste of Perks.

Much Rather have a List of 10 Perks, And every 1/5, 2/5 of stat etc. You pick form List. You can even lock a handful out for 3/5 stat investment.
And even add Perks that can be slotted into any stat if you meet the investment.

realistic to us… real life values? Or to ease of access in Exile Lands? Silver and Gold value in Exile Lands is likely no better then a Nickle and a Quarter. Made worse by hand in with Sorc Skulls.

Silver and Gold get tossed around with no value… I feel guy asking for silver for ice tea has some weird idea he is gonna leave Exile Lands with all that Silver and be Rich…

Can you imagine if you did this in a discussion about pretty any other business?

“I’ve been going to this restaurant for six years… they always get my order wrong, they undercook the food, staff ignores me, and the prices are too high. But knew this from other’s who went there before years before I even stepped in for the first time. Oh and I plan on going there next week… though they’ll probably screw that up too.”

Is this how you all normally are with things you buy or use?

Someone earlier brought up gas stations. Let’s use that for an analogy instead.

“I’ve been using this gas station for six years. Everytime I go there the pump messes up and it takes longer than it should to get gas. Sometimes I have to get staff to help me get the nozzle out because it somehow gets stuck… nearly every time. The prices are always higher than everyone else in town… yet sometimes the meter skips ahead and doesn’t accurately measure what I’m getting. The owner has several other stations with similar problems. I’ll be getting gas there later in the week again… but I’m sure it will get screwed up and maybe stall my car with bad gas.”

But its been suggested to use a TV show instead. So let’s try that.

“I’ve been watching this TV show for several seasons. The plot is all over the place. The actors look like their just reading their lines off a wall. The CGI looks like it was done in MS Paint. I’ve seen several other shows the production company has done and they’re all like this. It also costs half as much as the streaming service its on for the ‘addon’ to access it. They have another episode coming out on Monday and its probably going to suck like the others.”

If you’ve been eating at a place for years, or going to a station for years, or watching a show for seasons and you always get some bad experience, subpar product or service, or the production is just bad. And then tell friends and families you’re going to keep doing it. They’re going to think you’re crazy or joking.

So which is it? Are you all crazy or joking? Let me quote this for emphasis:

What part of dealing with this for six years or longer across multiple products makes sense?

But no, frequently I’m the bad guy for pointing out this is an utter exaggeration and simply isn’t the truth.

Same all, same all . The “story” of this forum unfortunately my dear fellow exile. For some reason every opinion must be filtered and analyzed from each side, the fight will start, the flags will follow and an admin will have to do the obvious.

Anyway, that’s it.

I am on the train of @Taemien, i don’t use direct hits against the company, i find it rude and inappropriate.

But!

Sometimes, the harsh language do the job better than the kind.
So i cannot blame @DeaconElie or any Deacon for his method.

The bottom line and the truth is that no matter the language we all love this game, no matter our disagreement.

Yes, we need more “love and attention” on PlayStation @Sera67, you’re absolutely right on this one.

Funcom made a great game. Fact.

Funcom made several good things. Fact.

Funcom made several errors, some of which really stupid and totally avoidable. My opinion.

But yes, lots of people tend to go too far: this happens when you put lots of effort in a game and gets disappointed.

ALSO, this community is to blame. Lots of people here talk very provocative and tend to anger people that are already angry.

There is a conflict between PVP and PVE players, which despise each others.

So, when you read people talking bad about Funcom, there are tons of factors that fuel their anger. And, IMHO, 60-70% of responsibility is the community itself.

Not true and too generalized. There is a PVP mentality that is pervasive in this game (I call it the “bruh” code) that is toxic to the longevity of new players coming in and self selects more toxic players but there are many many PVP folks on here that are more than reasonable.

Same goes with PVE except there are some that fight change of any kind and feel their game play needs higher consideration.

Regardless, both extreme sides have the same root issue, they want their style of play untouched and FC to cater to it and to hell with new players. However most of those that are here are active listeners and are willing to discuss things…not be pushovers but willing to hear alternative points of view. At least that is my experience.

I agree that devs deserve big thank you for all they done ever since early access. Game has changed and evolved so much since times where you couldnt even climb walls and its been quite fun to be part of it ever since.

For me personally there is just two major hickups I think that were generally bad for the game but not game breaking and those are Isle of Siptah, because it splits the game and bazaar. Although if latter keeps game supported and updates coming then it is, what it is.

But despite some major bugs, and other balance breaking stuff. Devs have been doing good job to keep game going and I still play this game and enjoy it a lot. Thank you.

I am not surprised lol. People tend to focus on differncces and how that makes one right or wrong. Funcom does alot well. But they also do things that make you scratch your head. Because they do some things well, it makes the head scratchers frustrating.

Tiny wibble.
This one’s self-hatred is not based on this (or any other) video game.

There is definitely the illusion of conflict between playstyles.
There are definitely representatives of name calling, feces flinging proto-humans pounding the keyboard…
But this one finds it very corner case rather than ubiquitous.
About as pervasive as those playing PvP on the Forum itself.

What if there is no other gas station around or no other restaurant around or no other series similar to the setting you like, that happens to be in that trashy series?

What if there are no other options? You pick the least worst option or have to stick with what you have.

Think about it.

Because there are not many good things to say about Funcom.

IMO the art team, that does the models/animations/etc and the music composer, they did/do a FANTASTIC job.

The rest of Funcom… Management, developers, game designers, are all a fail.

I can’t take people serious, who entered the wrong number THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW into a simple excel table. This is just pure incompetence or lazy work. Or cluelessness. Because for example armor bonus stats are all over the place in Conan right now.

You move. I mean seriously, if you’re lacking basic facilities like that, its time to cut your losses, sell everything you can, abandon what you can’t, and get out of there. Or provide your own.

And speaking on video games, I have done exactly that. Everquest 2 for example went down a subpar route for me. So I stopped playing it. It wasn’t hardly as bad as many claim Conan Exiles is either. I really did mean it when I said if Conan was half as bad as people claimed it to be, that I would have dumped it years ago. I had put way more hours and time into EQ2 (around 13 years) than CE before dumping it entirely.

I am not patient enough to deal with actual real subpar gaming experience.

Surely everyone can afford that. Be it money or other circumstances.
Get real Taemien. Please. You need to be able to put yourself into the shoes of others to understand people.

Here is a direct example:
Which cool barbarian themed survival games with melee combat and a nice building system are out there for the PS4 as alternatives?

Do some have to develop their own game now?

Others are not patient enough to develop their own game.

I never said to develop your own game (in regards to the analogy, people have been living off the land for several thousand years which is why I said ‘provide your own’. Its an option for those capable of it). I said cut your losses (which is what I did, I can’t develop my own game like EQ2 so I left). I can’t play a game that offers the experiences I had for nearly a decade in EQ2 unless I run my own emulated version (which is a helluva lot harder than running a private server for your typical survival game). And I have been without for three years now. It sucks. But what good would it do insulting Daybreak devs on a daily basis? Do you all actually suggest that I do that? How well has that worked here?

Tbh, this is all I’m ever asking when people critique FC.

I think CE’s main weakness is turn over. The updates show a clear misunderstanding of the original coding; ignorance but in it’s classical definition and not to be taken as an insult. This is evident in tweaks in some systems that completely break others because of linkages that may not be intuitive.

With that said, I think the product is still stellar and the additions are awesome. Loving the over all direction and appreciate all the hard work they do do earn my coin.

From conversations I’ve had, its not misunderstanding, its closer to irreverence. Some of the original core systems are either being revamped or redone or even replaced as they crop up as being problematic or overly restrictive to the vision going forward. Obviously redoing the whole thing at once would take too long, which is why we see this piecemeal approach.

The thrall/pet system is a good example of this. Its not a singular system, and Xevyr has seen and interacted with way more of the guts of it than I have and he can tell you there’s about a dozen systems involved and a dozen more he hasn’t seen (the stuff not available in the devkit). Much of that has been tinkered and reworked over the last year or so with much more to come.

For example, the whole system of having those hidden modifiers is something the current idealogy of the team doesn’t really like. Its not as simple as changing all settings to 1.0 and effectively kill it (which is what I suggested). That has ramifications that can really screw over a decent section of the playerbase in a bad way (such as a level 5 newbie getting one-comboed by an Exile NPC). But we have seen progressive changes in the last few updates.

What many consider nerfs are just frameworks for future changes. The pet ‘nerfs’ were part of that. They finally got it so that pet damage is divorced from wild animal damage. This way they can buff the damage of say something like a Kappa, without the wild ones shredding newbies. Or toning down the 800+ damage sabertooths without making the wild ones do less than 10 damage.

We’re going to see all of these things get better over time. But time is the worst part of all of this. Sirdavewolf said he doesn’t take someone seriously because of mistakes in a spreadsheet, but I doubt he has to deal with several hundred entries with over a dozen columns and then have to do so in a timely manner. Even some of our best modders make some of these mistakes. I’ve also seen similar mistakes on AAA titles in the top 10 games on Steam in some occassions. Humans are human after all.
