Exactly. There’s no lower form of challenge in a video game than a challenge to simply not quit repeating the same action over and over. It’s not about getting better, it’s not about doing anything different, it’s merely about not giving up.

If I have to choose between the non-challenge of mindlessly repetitive slot mechanics and the non-challenge of getting stuff easily, I’ll pick the latter, thanks.

Thing is, those aren’t the only two choices Funcom had. Here’s a novel idea: instead of pining for the shіtty old mechanics that got replaced by shіtty new mechanics, maybe we could wish for non-shіtty mechanics instead? Crazy, right?
