Funcom Launcher is live (2021-03-24)

It would be even nicer to have an disable and enable button for mods.

It’s even worse. The game won’t start at all playing conan on a linux computer through proton

When i click the continue button it tells me it can’t connect to my server. SO NOW your launcher is completely useless to me, as I have to hit launch anyway, do the usual way of getting to my server. Did we really need this launcher?

игра не хочет запускаться через лаунчер,выдает ошибку.пробовал и проверку локальных файлов делать и переустановил игру не помогает ни чего.пожалуйста исправьте ошибки лаунчера (до этого игра запускалась и играл без ошибок)

Proton Experimental version at least starts the launcher but if you try to start the game nothing happens. So no conan on a linux computer for now…

Since linux isn’t officially supported and I don’t use linux, I have no clue what work around you use to play the game. That said, I assume you can use the exe from the bin folder of your install directory. So if you can, just use that. The where and how is posted on numerous posts.

I’ll be honest with my feedback, my very first impression was pure hate. I despise additional launchers for games. However, even I have to admit that I genuinely like the ability to change mods and especially directly load my last game with “Continue”.

My only wish (which I realize will not come true, but just wanted to say it) would be to remove all games that I do not own from the list and maybe improve the load time of the launcher. If it wouldn’t actually need a few seconds to load the launcher itself, the time saved due to the aforementioned features would be even bigger and make the launcher even more of a positive feature.

Launcher pops up for less than a second via steam play button.

Verified files. Ran Conansandbox.exe directly. Same.

Funcom should just add their version of the more successful mod features to the core of the game. That way more players would be able enjoy the game on official servers… and we could all avoid modded servers (pros and cons). Mods are a symptom of Conan Exiles missing core content. Of course people will always try to do better, but recently playing on a modded server I am both ecstatic and frustrated by the experience. It’s slow, it’s unreliable, constant, sluggish updates, or wrong versions, restarts, or mod changes. Additionally, the same server is a literal wonderland when compared with “normal” Conan Exiles. It actually has all the features that Conan Exiles has not managed to put into its official servers. Most of these things are “common sense” type changes that really should not even be debated by a company providing a digital world to their customers.

So, yea, I like the launcher. I just wish that instead of trying to make it less ridiculous to play on modded servers… you added some of their hugely successful features to your main game.

even on ssd can still take quite a long time … i welcome this change honestly … My only wish was that this game wasnt sold through steam first but on funcom own platform first and steam was just a key holder … and lancher holder. but it is what it is

So to be Blunt, I hav eno use for this and it creates an unnecessary extra button click. IT literally slows me down from getting into the Game I have no use for any of the features it ofers like /zero/ I already understand how to manage my mods i log into the game once swap the server list and then never have to mess with it til load order changes. I have not seen the conan movie in Months because I deleted it.

As for the Games offered, the two games on the list that i ahve played and enjoyed I have not played in years. Like i am statistcally never going to play Anarchy online ever again and the longest i will ever play the other conan game is because im feeling nostalgic about tortuga and i now cant launch it from Steam for the same problem.

Like this Launcher literally serves no purpose and just ■■■■■■ me off IT does not add any measurable positive feature to my game play.

I’m having issues getting the game to launch. I’ve reinstalled Conan (because it made steam think I didn’t have the game installed), and I’ve validated my files as well. Its now to a point where when I go to launch the game, it shows the funcom launcher for about 2 second (loading with the swirly thing) before it crashes, and the button which says the game is “running”, soonafter goes green again.

That doesn’t work. Conan starts after a long loooong time to the start screen but can not log in " the steam online services are unresponsive" so nothing happens…

I am thinking that things like busted thralls and mobs going full center of the world should have been more of a priority over added advertisement for things most nobody is going to buy. Now to sit back and read the predictable reply’s LOL

Could not agree more with this sentiment. The launcher should be OPTIONAL and skip-able. 80% of the thread from last year was “We didn’t want this, and we will uninstall the game over this.” and I was not actively playing at the time to notice, but clearly it got pulled. You bring it back and basically didn’t change jack? Mod list selector in the launcher to avoid reloading the game, sure, nice touch. Continue button is a nice touch. Do I care? Nope. I want a skip. Most Steam users hate extra launchers because it’s just more bloatware running in the background that is unnecessary. Many Steam users refuse to buy or play games with launchers. You are angering and annoying a significant portion of your potential customer base, again. Make it optional. Yes, I’ve tried it. Yes I see it’s convenience. I launch CE through the Steam Notification tray icon and this skips the “To BattleEye or not to BattleEye” dialog. I click twice and I’m in the main menu because I delete the intro videos to skip them. SSD plus decent RAM and CPU means I’m on that main menu in 2 seconds. Now I have more to click. Don’t care. Don’t want. Want an option to skip, opt-out, bypass, and not have to shortcut the game.exe to my startmenu since I don’t allow icons on my desktop. You’re trying to herd cats here. Your launcher will annoy a portion of your existing and potential customers. Having the option to avoid it directly through the Steam launcher and properly searchable instructions for this will alleviate this annoyance. It’s not difficult to add either. One person could code in a Steam Launch parameter for skipping the launcher in less than an hour. Just do it.

EDIT: See Seska1973 below for launcher skip.

(Extremely long sigh). Different parts of the game are made by different teams or people. Game development 101. In this case, the launcher was made by their tool creators. Who rarely if ever, in any game studio on the planet, work on the actual game.

I just leave this here for the ones that know how to use it:

ConanSandbox_BE.exe -nosplash -BattlEye -continuesession

It also works

Thank you~ <3

EDIT: For those who don’t fully understand how to use what Seska posted above… You’ll want to open the Properties of the game from your Steam Library. Go to Local Files and click Browse. From here, just click on the directory header to highlight the raw directory and copy this. Come back to the Properties window for the game in Steam. In the “Launch Options” section start by typing a quote then paste. Next you’ll want to copy this and return to the Launch options to paste:

\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox_BE.exe" -nosplash -BattlEye -continuesession %command%

As an example, mine is: “D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox_BE.exe” -nosplash -BattlEye %command%

At the very least the -BattlEye is needed, but the other two may be optional. I kept the -nosplash and removed -continuesession so I go to the main menu at launch since, like I already mentioned, I delete the opening movies. You’ll have to change a few things that should be obvious if you prefer to play without BattlEye. You WILL have to change this if you move the game to a different drive. Updates should not remove it though.

I talked about the Launcher long ago and wasn’t a fan of the concept back then. Then when they dropped it into Test Live a few weeks ago, I changed my mind. It is very lightweight on resources, very quick and gives me the continue button, which is a huge convenience for me.

Sure, there is marketing, showing me that I have one DLC yet to buy (Argos) and a bunch of games to try, but I am able to resist those temptations if needed and click the “go fast to my game” continue button.

It broke in Test Live and the Continue ceased to work, so I just bypassed the launcher till the update today. I am now VERY HAPPY to have it back with a working Continue button.

Thank you @ThomasJ for your help, relaying my issue to devs! Thanks Devs for the fix!
