Well, there is no way for the game to tell you why it can not connect to the FGS so it only states what it can… For all that the game know, there could be a pickaxe in your modem and it would still state this exact same message. Only then you would have a lot more indicator that the internet is down.
Appears to be back up, I was able to get to the server selection page and connect to my dedicated private server.
You ever get that felling of deja vu?
This happens to me for like the first month of every new chapter release, which means I have to work twice as hard to complete the battlepass all over again.
Funcom never even answered my bug report on it back in September.

If you play on Steam, Steam does Tuesday maintenance and you can’t connect for a short period of time.
