Funcom: decides on an update that removes god bubbles
“RNG” event: raptures thralls half a month before update
Also Funcom: “Now now, pvp people. let’s not get hasty about rollbacks…”
Meme aside, I wonder if a bug somehow dropped bazaar items to a price of 1 coin on Friday, will the staff be called into the office over the weekend to fix that?
The attachment from my clan was a person who died and can not ever come back, he had thralls that he trained and named in his own way, that we wanted to keep with us, Erjoh. I get that it’s not a big deal to you, and you and I have a great and constructive conversations in the past which I respect you for. However, I ask that this once you respect that your feeling is not comparable to thousands of other players in this one instance of your life.
I know you will rebuild, possibly better than before. I know you can carry the torch of a new tomorrow. What you can not do, is make everyone else see from your point of view today.
I wish you well, Friend, I truly do. Please, take this moment to keep your strong head held up high but not in pride and alturism, but in reverence to all of us who have lost things that can not be replaced by 1’s and 0’s because those numbers have been lost forever. That is true grief.
Should have only affected in world combat thralls and pets. Those in some form of storage or in crafting station should be fine as they share the decay timer of the structure they are in.
No I get where you are coming from but to me, it’s still just a game. I lost all the emotional connections when my old server was taken down. I get where everyone is upset and yours is a more true nostalgia and reverence to what was in a memorial sense, however i see complaints of hundreds of thralls gone and Iam just here scratching my head going ‘wtf do you need that many thralls for?’…I literally can’t comprehend that many and to level all of them? Yeah no. I will concede I play a different game than all of you at this point because I get crowded if I have 20 to the point I move and create a separate base when my clan gets thrall crazy.
A rollback at this point would pit the value of the time of the people who’ve lost thralls against the value of the time of people who’ve built bases and leveled their characters since.
Is my time to be dismissed, my base erased, my time spent in the game since this error occurred nullified in full, to appease those who’ve lost their thralls?
People who’ve lost everything would be quick to reply to my question with the math and say YES their thousands of hours of investments hands down beats the 48 hours you Mr. Puny Little Player have spent in the game OF COURSE your sandstone disaster will evaporate and all of the crap in it for the sake of us who’ve lost thousands of hours of play time in this investment so suck it up, buttercup.
That is essentially where we are now that this has gone on this long: pitting the value of the time of one group of players against another. No matter how you do the math, it sucks.
Had the rollback happened within the first couple of hours of this error, that would be easy enough to swallow. DAYS, now, multiple, have passed, and people rightfully should feel their investment over the past couple of days shouldn’t be sacrificed. Why should it?
Every minute that passes, if a roll back to August 31st occurs, is one more minute all those who will be pleased with getting their thralls back equates to consternation and disappointment for the people since then who’ll never get their time investment back during the interim.
5 new players vs hundreds existing. The decision is obvious in my opinion but my speculation is that gportal doesn’t do regular backups and Funcom doesn’t have a proper rollback point. Let’s hope that next time they set the base decay to 1 day by mistake, your 3 days of progress which will be then hundreds of hours won’t be wiped. You may sing a different song then.
You did the math exactly the way I predicted. Nullify the newbies, call it a day.
I lost entire workshops with high-end work benches on multiple servers during the nemedian foundation fiasco. I didn’t quit the game, and I didn’t kavetch on the forums that there should be a rollback precisely because I knew a rollback would erase everyone’s work after that point. The big picture isn’t just about me, or the next person who lost entire workshops. It’s a consideration about all players.
Sorry but sometimes you have to make the tough decision to sacrifice a few to save many. Plus if you didn’t quit after the nemedian fiasco you will not quit over a 2 days rollback, will you?
I think there should be a rollback. The amount lost by active players over the weekend in minuscule compared to what was lost by the vast majority of players.
People who tend to play pvp or on private servers with frequent wipes are used to losing all their stuff and don’t have much attachment to in-game items.
What Funcom did right now, unintentionally, is a direct hit on their main payer player base- pve gatherers and builders. This is the people who buy new bazaar deco, armors and everything else.
I don’t know what Funcom will do but if they won’t roll back it will be one of the biggest if not the biggest CE f**k they ever had and may directly hit them where it really hurts…sales.
Rollbacks would mean people that gained since the 1st would lose, those that lost since the 1st would gain.
and now everyone knows loss in aggregate why would an exception be made now? if you lose thralls unfairly to hackers, exploits etc why would funcom care you lose thralls unfairly now?
There’s several times a roll back should been pushed in the past. So really doubt “some thralls” would make it happen, when people lost way more than that before.
