Funcom pls talk to us

Some of those things are really difficult to say either way. My belief is that the pacing of the patches and the amount of things they could fix would be greater than it is now if they had not decided to shift focus away from CE and i have no doubt that has happened given that giveaways and communication since the launch of Dune has dropped to near 0.

I know they don’t have to do giveaways or talk to the community, but it is evidence that their new toy is getting most of their attention leaving us with more questions than answers.

They can do a lot better over here and if they want to really start getting people that have left back on their side a good place to start would be get back to keeping players up to speed. No more of this we will talk when it’s a week or two out from a patch. Let us in on what we can expect in the next patch and so forth.

when it comes to the dune community yes they have listen and implementet alot of things people ahve asked for.

this is normale when it come to games and companigs, the new game gets alot of attention.

“Give us more because we cannot possibly ever be satisfied with anything! We demand perfection even though we are not perfect nor do we produce perfection! You must do as we say because we are extremely entitled people… and no, we don’t want to spend any more money! You must satisfy us for free!”

funcom is done with Conan exiles. Like every other one of their games, is as their SOP Conan has been mothballed. I’m of the opinion it’s in maintenance mode, and been handed over to that funcom staff. It gets worked on when it’s turn comes in the rotation. As far as I can tell, games in maintenance do not have community managers.

Given that for a couple years, we were getting major updates every quarter with at least a couple different systems, cosmetics, battlepasses, and Bazaar content, I think it’s reasonable that people expected the Age of Bug Fixes to follow a similar cadence. Maybe not quite as frequently, but it’s pretty disheartening that we’ve had 2 bug fix updates since the letter in January (which was preceded by silence since Age of Heroes dropped October 17) and neither of those updates included fixes for the many more serious bugs. Their major content release of Living Settlements, which came in that October update, is so dysfunctional that it is not even enabled on officials. Inventories have been broken since April 2024 when using any of the “new” sorting features.

One would have hoped to see more focus and dedication on the more pervasive bugs in the time they’ve had. But without that AND without communication, it’s not hard to understand why people feel the game has been abandoned.

No game in the history of gaming has ever had infinite development or updates, especially a sandbox game. At some point, it has to stop. Any expectation otherwise is a delusion. I’d still be content with the game if all development stopped right now, including the addition of new Bazaar items. There is no other game that is like this one. It’s the only on Hyborian Age game on PlayStation and I think it’s awesome. It’s one of my 2 favorite games of all time.

If Funcom announced that development and the addition of new content is over, there would still be people making posts demanding changes, additions, or updates. It seems that some people are addicted to not being satisfied with anything and are plagued with perpetual expectations that are not congruent with reality. It’s as if some people believe that because they bought the game, they get to control the company or make outlandish demands for free labor.

I would say our current situation is “not quite as frequently, but a similar cadence.”

No need to try to think back on when things happened, I have every patch since the Ages began recorded and graphed for convenience.

We are currently on a slower release cycle, but it isn’t that much slower than it was before, and the drought between patch 2.8 and the Age of Sorcery - Chapter 1 still has not been matched.

Awesome way to show what is real. So many people are deluded by what they feel and reject what is real, no matter what evidence they are presented with.

Only for people WHO ARE INCAPABLE OF READING!

I mean, they clearly stated that they were CHANGING SAID CADENCE DUE TO IT BEING UNTENABLE, but sure, it’s “totally reasonable to expect it to have not changed right”?

Wait, you mean the letter which stated that the new update cadence would being changed to…. you guessed it… SIX MONTHS instead of THREE MONTHS? :open_mouth: I mean, if you are going to refer to the letter you should probably READ the letter.

In your opinion. They do however include a SHITTON of bug fixes. Just because they aren’t the bugs YOU wanted fixed is not FVCKING relevant. Again, go back and READ THAT LETTER FFS.

When people are clearly as lacking of cerebral functioning as several have shown in this thread alone, I suppose it is not to hard to comprehend how SOME would think that. And yet, with just a shred of reading, and comprehension, so much would be revealed to those very same people but then they wouldn’t have anything left to scream their doom and gloom about now would they?

100% their is alot of people their need to read the letter funcom gave us, but the sad thing is many dont, for some people its just easy to asume and ask instead of find things out them self , i agree with you Oduda peeople need to read the letter.
its the same with then people said (no one have asked for this) its the worst take people say becuse they dont want it but in general people have asked for it since they showed it on a future plan for conan in one of their videos 8-9 years ago and allso they have kept the plan true to conan for what they showed in the the video. here is the video.
Conan Exiles - The future of Conan Exiles
since the letter came out and they focus was fixing things they have fioxeed so many things @heaven13.
some things takes more time to fixed becuse its so heavy into the system.

i hope they gonna keep going with the age system when they have fixed what they need to fix, ofcuorse they cannot fix everything their is. but atleast they trying to fix things and its nice to see and the best part is the year is not over yet so they can still com out with some fixes wher its more critical bugs.

Yeah they pretty much acknowledged in that letter that the underlying coding going all the way back to when they built the engine is just a complete MESS. And in order for them to continue to put out updates they need to go back and and start to sort out the foundation of spaghetti so that they have something more stable to build upon. Continuing to slap spackle onto a wall that is crumbling because the foundation said wall is sitting upon is shattered and decaying isn’t going to solve the issue, so they decided to finally stop that approach and work on fixing the foundation itself so that they can then begin to repair the wall (and build new ones).

Will they need another update of bug fixes, another 2? If that is what it takes than let them do it! They have also had smaller updates with some bug fixes in between those major ones that have also put out other updates as well, I only linked the two major ones above. So we might get another small bug fix before the end of the year and “hopefully” a new letter with an update as to the state of the game going forward. Until them speculating on “game dead” or “no one cares” is just idiotic at best and disingenuous. If they didn’t care they would be doing what they are doing with Age of Conan and The Secret World, and that is LITERALLY NOTHING! So obviously there is SOME level of care still at play with Conan Exiles. Is it what we, the fans, might like? Obviously not. But there is still some existing within Funcom so let them do what they are doing and wait for the updated letter to see what they have to say about their plans going forward.

100% now we just need to see what the rest of the 2-3 months is about and hope for mroe bugs fixes even hope for major updates with bug fixes, and after that see what the letter next year have to say frome funcom and what is the plan for the game.

but its still could be nice if they gave some words out on whats is comming and when its comming.

Yikes. I was trying to be empathetic and see both sides of the feelings here. I don’t think this degree of hostility was really warranted. Particularly since my last sentence said the lack of bug fixes coupled with the lack of communication is understanding to see why people are upset. Sure, some people are going to be mad/upset/disappointed regardless, but I think other people would feel better if they would just talk to us and let us know how it’s going.

Agreed let’s not go overboard.

I will try not to write an essay… lol

Start talking to the player base more about current and future issues and plans concerning CE.

6-7 months in between patches and they can’t even get someone to talk to the forums but once or but maybe once or twice is imo a bit sad to put it nicely. That’s a crazy amount of time to leave just sitting there with radio silence when they could easily put someone to giving out updates beyond “patch in 1 week stay tuned” “wait for patch notes for further information”.

You can’t have these kinds of patch cycles coupled with little to no communication and not expect some kick back.

They have a lot of ground to make up for with their history of how the game and players have been treated, why add to it - why further tarnish your reputation.

The longest time between patches since the Ages started has been 100 days (~3 months).

Even if you meant major updates, the longest time between those since Ages started has been 182 days (~6 months).

There has not been a patchless drought exceeding 6 months since version 2.8.

Unfortunately, I think what little communication we have been getting is going to decrease even farther, as there are concerning clues that Andy has now departed Funcom as well. He still has all the roles here on the forums, but who is left without Andy himself to remove them?

I meant the major patches yes during the bug fixing cycle not counting the small fixes in between (iirc now that i look back the last break between major patches might have been in the 5 month range with one or two quick fixes in between). Not sure where i got the 7 months from, guess it just seems like it’s 7 months between the major patches lately, my fault there. I will do better to catch that in the future to make sure i don’t accidentally make any unintended exaggerations.

I think they really want everyone to start using discord and then perhaps remove the forums entirely at some point. I know a game company that has done just that and they shut down their forums entirely at least for the one title that i know of. I refuse to use discord for a variety of reasons though.

Without the forums or reddit i would just be left in the dark. So them dropping fewer updates on the boards is definitely not cool as they say lol.

daam its the first time i hear this
