Game crashing after patch update 5-20-2026

I updated the patch and verified my files. The game is constantly crashing. I did not have this issue before the patch updated.

Fatal error!

Crash in runnable thread FAsyncLoadingThread

1749 US PVE has been under repeat crashing as well. I’d find another server but ping leaves me little choice.

I have the same problem. After the 20.V.2026 update the game crashes every time. I can enter the main menu, change settings, modes etc. but later, when I launch the game it crashes. I play in a single-player mode.

I have updated graphic drivers, set the graphics to minimal quality and disabled the most of mods but it didn’t help.

I play Steam version, my computer: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 G, 16GB RAM, AMD Radeon RX 6600 (8GB), Windows 11 25H2

Already solved. In my case it was a problem with mods not with the game. I removed them all and the game started up, although it was painful - I have lost some stuff.

I undid all my mods, deleted the game, reinstalled and verified my files. Game still has same crash listing every time. This patch has wrecked my game.

I never had any mods and my game still crashes so its not just mods as a lot of people are reporting. I can’t even load my save. The came CTD’s when i get a bout 35% loaded. However, if you play solo there is a way around it. If you have a spare slot, create a new game then back out to the menu and your other save will load. If youre on servers, i dunno what to suggest as i only play single player

Not wishing to rub salt in any wounds, just trying to help find a solution -
I’m having no problems at all - singleplayer, unmodded (CEE, obviously). So logically there is something that those having crashes have in common that is different with my machine.

FIrst stages - for any that haven’t already done it, the obvious first step is to verify the game files through steam. (And remove any mods, if still running any.) I know some of you have already done these, but it needs to be checked for any that haven’t.

Next - make sure you have checked your system specs against the minimum and recommended specs for CEE -

MINIMUM:

Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

OS: Windows 10 64bit

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i5-10400F

Memory: 16 GB RAM

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070Ti or Radeon 5700 XT, minimum 8 GB Video RAM

DirectX: Version 12

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: SSD required

RECOMMENDED:

Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

OS: Windows 11 64bit

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5600X or Intel Core i7-11700F

Memory: 16 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700

DirectX: Version 12

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: SSD required

Again - I’m sure many (if not all) have already done that as well.
Are all your drivers up to date?

Do you have the latest version of DirectX12?

So, next - what processor and GPU are you running? I’m using Intel (12th gen I5) and Nvidia (4070). Are any of you on AMD for either? (I have a faint memory of there having been a problem with the game on some AMD rigs in the distant past - maybe that could be a factor here?)

Maybe by comparing notes we can find something your systems have in common that is different from mine? Hopefully that might help narrow down where the problem is so that it can be solved.

@Tedfin666 I’m even more confused by your situation - I would have thought the problem would either exist or not, but you are someohow in a halfway state. Have you tried verifying your files - the only thing I can think of for you is maybe a small file corruption somewhere?

Yes i verified my files. Thats actually the first thing i did. I actually found a way around the issue too though i have no idea how it solves the problem. I have two saves. Neither will load passed 35% since the lastest patch. However, if i create a new game then immediately log out to the main menu, i can load my saves. So i can play, just with some extra rather unwelcome steps. Go figure.

Yeah, that’s why I’m even more confused by your situation. I just can’t think of a way that a game could work but only after loading the new save first. (And the fact that you have two saves means that it shouldn’t even have anything to do with a minor bit of damage to the save file itself - since that would have to apply to both save files…) At least you can play, even with the unwanted extra steps, hopefully a proper solution will arrive.

Yeah, could be worse! Thanks for your input.

I’m getting the same crash, but I don’t even make it to the main menu. My game crashes after the opening cinematic.

Nothing’s changed on my end since a few days ago. Latest drivers, verified files, reinstalled game, etc. Nothing works.

I’ll also point out that I have played since 5/20. My game worked fine on 5/23. It started doing this today on 5/24 suddenly.

I was suffering from the crashes too since I got the patch. It started at first at the intro scene.

My wife’s computer (older than mine) worked no problems. My computer, which is much more powerful would sometimes also hard crash after the latest update instead of just CTD.

Looking at the dump files and the logs in event viewer - It seemed like it was trying to process shaders and many more times the IAntiLag2Module being referenced in the dump. I had similar stack traces listed above. We don’t play with mods, so it wasn’t that. I did a clean install of my graphics drivers and reinstalled the game… That got me to load the menu, but as soon as I tried to join a server or play solo/coop - it’d crash / die from 1% every time.

Ends up being that despite having validated game files, latest and clean drivers - the instability was from the BIOS and Intel ME being old (like I hadn’t updated it for a couple years). After I updated my BIOS and ME for my computer, it works fine now.

If you have a more modern computer, then consider checking your BIOS / ME and seeing if its old. If you’re not comfortable doing it, ask a friend who’s good with IT to help look at it.

Good luck

I would just like to say that I have no idea why, but creating a new game then backing out and going into the existing one works.

This is also 100% an AMD driver/DX12 shader issue exclusive to this game.

No idea why it wouldn’t have been fixed, because they have the bug reports and from what I’ve seen it shouldn’t be that crazy to diagnose/fix.

Same failure with the actually update…
