Bug Description:

Gates will only place on foundation in direct contact with the ground

Bug Reproduction:

Stack foundations two high

Attempt to place gate

Get “CANNOT PLACE WHILE OVERLAPPING ANOTHER OBJECT” or “MISSING SUPPORT UNDERNEATH THE GATE” message

Appears to be related to Anti-stacking rules for fence foundations

It looks like the problem has to do with the distance from the ground:

It looks like you don’t have to stack foundations on top of each other to have the bug manifest, it’s enough to simply raise the foundation enough.

I am running into the same problem. I have frontier foundation pieces 5 a across directly touching the ground and it says missing support underneath the gate.

Same issue here. I can’t place any type of gate frame.
It’s look like to the game wants it to place under the foundation and writes that “Cannot place while overlapping another object” - Yes, because it is under the foundation.
If the game let me place it, where I don’t want to place it, I can’t rotate it.

Have the same bug on PC solo + personal server with/without mods :
-Cannot place on foundation or foundation fence
-CAN be place with lower part on GROUND + a part on a Foundation
-CAN be place with lower part on GROUND alone + upper contact with ceiling

So gate are place-able with ground contact only… as per state by other player earlier.

I confirm. Same problem. You can install the gate arch only on a very low foundation, directly at the surface of the earth. If the foundation is higher or has several levels - “Placement is not possible. Intersects with another object.”

I used to be able to place gates in lakes so I could add a drawbridge. Now it dosnt work if the foundation is over 1 square high , i hope they fix this mess soon ,

Having the same problem. also if the draw bridges are suppose to snap to theses then they are also useless as you wouldn’t build a drawbridge 2 feet of the ground. and i cant even get the drawbridge to snap to a gate frame can any one else?

My temp solution is three doors and using the double high doorframe, then positioning archers on a walkway above the doors.
