It’s a sign of emotional attachment. Many of the loudest complainers really love the game, but they are disappointed in some aspects. Complaining is their way of wanting the game to get better. Unfortunately, it’s not really constructive, but these gamers have their own reasons why they cannot express themselves in a more proper manner - whether it’s an agitated emotional state (remember, the past two years have been very stressful for many people, which further adds to this emotional overload), lack of communication skills (the classic “gamer nerd”) or poor command of the English language.

Of course, there are probably some people who gave grown to actually hate the game and who go out of their way to try and ruin the enjoyment of others too. The “If I can’t have fun with the game, no-one should” attitude. But I believe they’re in the minority.

One thing with Conan Exiles is that it has a lot more stuff to play and enjoy than most other games. Most big title games have 30 to 60 hours of content, we play through it once or twice, and then we’ve seen it all, and move on to the next game. But people play Conan Exiles for hundreds, even thousands of hours. The attachment to our own achievements, whether it’s a nice base or racking PvP kills or completing all journey steps, becomes much stronger because we’ve spent so many hours cultivating it. That makes it harder to just shrug and move on.

Sometimes, it’s best to take a break. Go play something else. I’ve done that many times over the years. Then, when you feel like it, come back to Conan Exiles and see if it scratches the itch. Even if it doesn’t, chances are you’ve already got more hours of enjoyment out of the game per dollar spent than just about any other game.
