This is more from a RP players perspective but it would be really great if you could transfer control of a follower to another player. If someone joins a clan and then leaves later they lose their followers to the clan. Would also allow players to be follower trainers and then sell them to people.
This has some red flags. From a player’s perspective this makes sense. However for somebody that is just reading about the game. A game that encourages players to buy and sell people might upset some people and be a PR nightmare… I could see maybe for animals it being okay.
I didn’t say people. I said “Followers”. That is the term Funcom uses for all pets, mounts, and fighters.
Can you define a fighter for me?
Worker thralls and fresh of the wheel “combat” can be dropped into a loot bag, its probably no on any fighter, archer, pet “combat”
thrall that is placed and leveled for pvp abuse.
One of the core mechanics of the game is enslaving people, binding them to your will. I don’t think they’re worried about PR.
You could have a bar full of thralls for PvP and just throw them down like Pokemon, after you are done fighting pick them up and go to your next battle.
For the original post… Atlas had a setting for your clan called personal ownership. This meant that even though you joined that clan your stuff would maintain your personal tag on it. If you left the clan then your tames would still be yours. The other thing Atlas had was an unclaim button, you could walk up and unclaim an animal as the leader or whatever rank the leader set to allow you to unclaim. This would remove the animal from the clan and somebody could walk up and hit E on it to claim it. This is so breeders could sell their neutered babies and keep their genetics in the clan.
From a person that plays this game being able to transfer ownership of thralls makes sense. “I just lost my best followers to an offline purge” Don’t worry I got you here’s my old follower she rolled accuracy but she’s something to get you back on your feet. Funcom was bought by Tencent which is a much larger company so they have more that could be put at risk. Buying and selling people would be a slave trade. This is just a game, but do to recent political events, that I do not want to discuss, I do not want people that don’t even play the game to try and attack it because of a mechanic.
Will thralls in work stations be included in the follower limit? Will broken but unplaced followers be included in the follower limit?
Kind of a non-issue if you ask me. I already buy and sell followers on my server, the only difference is they haven’t been placed yet.
It is more about the timing not about the actual feature.
I’m not suggestion letting you pick them up again. Where did people get that idea? I’m talking about a way to keep a follower when you leave a clan OR leveling a follower up and then selling it to people. At no point is it becoming a hot bar instant drop B-S-ery mechanism.
That can and will be abused in pvp, how else to trade but drop?
There’s already slavery and cannibalism. How would it be a nightmare to add trading slaves, which for the record is already possible albeit unplaced ones?
This was done before current political events in the US that sparked an international uproar. Right now them allocating resources or releasing tools to make slave trading more convenient is not a good idea. In a few months when people are not sensitive about the subject of slavery it would be a better time.
That’s incredibly reductionist and honestly a bit disrespectful to equate the death of a man in real life at the hands of police brutality to a video game about barbarians. I’m sure you’re trying to view this with noble intentions, but I fear you may be overpoliticizing this. Video game characters aren’t real people, and there is no parallel to be drawn here.

Second: We have a follower management system in place. All you would need to do is add in a way to select a follower in that system and then select a player to transfer it to.
There is no room for abuse in PvP. Someone would need to train it and it would never become an item again. The whole point of it would be to do “all” that work to train it just to give it to someone else “OR” to be able to keep something you put work into after leaving a clan.,
That’s where the pvp abuse will happen, your standing there …" mercenaries for hire!" I’ll take 3 , drop one it engages, its level 20, one shots( cause thats the argument) drop another, it engages, level 20 so it one shots peeps too, one left in my bag now, don’t need it those fools are dead, pick up placed followers and go find more victims.
You seem to be caught up in the idea that trading placed followers necessitates picking them up. No one is proposing that and there is no chance of Funcom enabling that.
A placed follower could be transferred to new ownership, still placed. Never is it picked up, never is it dropped, never are any in your bag.
At least someone is hearing me.
