Can’t place Golem’s on any type of foundation
Crafted golems (iron, stone, crystal, any type) cannot be placed on flat surfaces.

But this one is not:
In general placing those big boys is buggy. While trying to place it, move him around and you will see the option to place come on and off, just time clicking, it works in most cases.
I tried, multiple times, spent like an hour just to find a single flat place where i can put him on guard. Unfortunately, only acceptable places for this golem was fences and sometimes stairs, or even worse, fountains and beds.
