Excessive exposure to blue light can even cause long-term damage including headaches , dry eyes, blurred vision and insomnia. Blue light and insomnia: Experts warn that chronic exposure to blue light at night can lower the production of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep, and disrupt your circadian rhythm.
Next time maybe spend a few moments to research how things can effect people before devoting an entire week to it…
Heya!
Have you experienced these yourself? If so, we do want this feedback, since it will be helpful for future events. If you have any research on this you could point us towards that would also be very helpful. Would you also mind elaborating a bit on what you mean by “excessive exposure”? For hours upon hours for a week? Or over several weeks? The event has been running for 5/6 days, but it’s always a good idea to take healthy breaks!
I begin to experience headaches after only 30 minutes. It may vary for others. I have only played a Max of like 3 hours straight since the event started at the end of those 3 hours I had a migraine that lasted another four. Please find further research to this below…
Blue light penetrates very deep into your eyes causing eye strain.Blue Light Exposed explains that: “Most of us spend the majority of our waking hours staring at digital screen, whether it’s the computer at work, our personal cell phone, playing a video game, or just relaxing and watching TV. Digital eyestrain is a new term used to describe the conditions resulting from the use of today’s popular electronic gadgets.
Blue light and migraines : “Fluorescents, LEDs, TVs, computers, smart phones, and other electronics that emit blue light disrupt our sleep patterns at night. Additionally, these devices do not provide a constant source of light. They are actually flickering. This flickering from artificial lights has been reported to trigger migraines and is well known for causing eye strain and headaches. The combination of eye strain, oxidative stress, and sleep disruptions make blue light dangerous for migraine sufferers.” (source)
“Excessive exposure” can differ from person to person but one thing Is clear in each article and supporting sources is that blue light will have an extremely negative effect on everyone either they notice it quikly like myself in 30 minutes or in a few hours it’s effecting them.
Not only is it unhealthy, physically; it is psychologically depressing. Servers I’m used to playing on have been emptied by this depressing environment. Tomorrow’s daybreak is the only thing that can save the exiled lands.
I’m a natural born insomniac so I haven’t noticed a change in my sleeping pattern, but I will say that between the lighting and the music, I can’t stand to play for more than an hour or 2 at a time now.
I just bought CE a couple weeks ago, and before the event this game was basically all I was playing during my free time. I didn’t even boot it up yesterday. The game just feels depressing now. And as a creative person in the middle of building my 1st base, I can’t even work on that anymore because it’s too hard to see what I’m doing.
I even changed the day/night settings to help with the lighting as was suggested by another admin in another thread. Didn’t help.
Then I had to turn the music all the way down. The old score was awesome, but these monotonous Halloween tones get real annoying.
And the fact that Halloween itself was 6 days ago and everyone in the real world has moved on, only adds to the frustration. It would’ve been cool for 2 or 3 days leading up to Halloween, but this is ridiculous. In Conan lore, isn’t the Night of Lost Souls just 1 night, not a whole week?
I look forward to the event ending so I can finally get back to playing again. Came really close to asking Microsoft for a refund before the meteor spam was fixed. I was really loving it before, so I hope you guys learn the right lessons from this event going forward.
A few fixes until removal of weird-light. If you are using PC, turn on your “night-lighting” in Windows Settings… The orange will restore flames to their original orange, the sky will be more greenish, like wearing starlight night goggles, but that flames and flesh are a proper warm hue.
Night vision potions may also help, once they’ve worn off. Mess with gamma settings after other stuff.
Honestly i can’t stand the Halloween lighting cuz its dark constantly and i got the game in the middle of the event so i didn’t know anything about it so i thought my game was bugged out and next Halloween event dont make it permanent night
