@Boobie yes I’m aware that the team fixed the thrall porking. Please forgive me for not putting exact dates and times in my story but let me assure you that it was longer before they fixed the porking. The vets had an unleveled by that cut through 2 fully leveled snowhunters (wearing redeemed, champion and epic Pictish +war maker kits) in about 8 hits each. Those snow hunters had about 25k hp between the 2 of them, the bum was at about 9300 by my recollection. (RIP Alice and Alita, they fought well )
Yeah i’m old enough in the game to remember it literally takes 2 days for a locust clan to come in fresh @ level 1 to start wiping the server entirely. Which is why I don’t believe transfers are an issue. But body vaulting is different in that your are exploiting the removal of your body in game after a period of time to keep your stuff. That I have issue with. Sure you can go to another server (and i do believe there needs to be a combat cooldown for that so that it’s not an escape of retribution) but your body is still there…if you break from the game, you have a chance to lose out of the gains you obtains.
I feel like we’re getting off topic here. I’ve seen plenty of good fact based reasons about why a ‘hard reset’ could be good for the game and the pvp servers specifically. But I honestly haven’t seen any good arguments against other than that it would be inconvenient, you don’t want , NO!!! MAKE HIM SHUT UP!!! The mainstream attitude of the pvp community on official pvp servers has become another good reason for a wipe. Face it you guys are bored and don’t wanna spawn naked in the desert like you’ve done to so many other people. I assure it’s not that bad, you will survive.
I will concede one thing though. It should be announced and transfers should be available when it comes on.
And here is why. There are some more historic things that cannot be replaced. The Captain thrall…If you find a pre-order item from a raid eons past…powder of corruption after 3.0 comes into play. These things are not just rare but unique and individual now. There needs to be a way for these folks that have sat on game history to keep these collections of obsolete items.
@erjoh What’s happening with powder of corruption?
Removal from loot tables. Also witch doctor feat lore spot is getting removed as well. The old undead followers do not fit in the current direction of necromancy in the game.
“Obsolete” items like pre-patched Crom swords and Yog’s Touch? These items got nerfed for a reason, mainly coz of all you vets complaining about them and cryin “OP” so very often. Why should they be preserved? You’re the ones who wanted them removed to begin with but now that you can use them for ammo in a thread about wipe or no wipe now they’re historical and need to be preserved. Gtfoh
As for the corrupting items, yes I’ve also been saving the hyena skull helmets that the Bat drops hoping they might become useful soon.
You do realize that the “preservation” @erjoh proposed doesn’t involve keeping those items on official servers, right? If all official servers get wiped, the character transfer won’t help if you’re transferring between official servers. Rather, the idea is for those who have some kind of a sentimental attachment to these bits and pixels to be able to transfer them to a private server that would allow them to keep enjoying them.
Stay classy
@CodeMage im not a “bot” bud, I’m in a class of my own
As far as the sentimental attachment to pixels sorry but I honestly have no sympathy there. Not trying to be an xsshole by saying that either. Obsolete is obsolete and such things are so rare probably just sit in a bv and never to see the light of day ever again for fear of losing those items. Just saying. Not trying to be an xsshole about it.
@CodeMage however you were the one who said”serial refreshers” as part of a pro wipe reply and I think what you meant by that. That being the case, since many of the opposers have even stated that a wipe wouldn’t even faze them or slow them down at all then let’s do it coz a wipe will further support server optimization and general functionality of the game. We’re on the same team here.
Different strokes for different folks. I still miss Vathis the Hierophant that I used to have before I went on my first hiatus and let my stuff decay. I don’t miss him terribly, i.e. I can play just fine without it, but I understand the attachment
What I meant by that is that there are people on PVE(-C) servers who just log in to refresh their builds and don’t stay online to play, or even chat with other people. They don’t contribute anything to the server, and some of them do it for months on end, despite having claimed a lot of space on the map.
We are. I still wouldn’t mind a full wipe for 3.0, even though it’s unpopular. But it’s pretty clear it ain’t gonna happen
I’m in favor of a Full Wipe but see it as incredibly unlikely especially since there’s been no announcement.
HOWEVER, I am equally in favor for some Fresh Servers for 3.0!
This would allow the players that want a fresh experience to opt-in, and whoever doesn’t can simply remain in their current servers.
Great idea. The wipe everything is a mixed bag that effects many people. I mean the uproar when they merged severs was clear enough that it won’t go over well.
I Don’t believe it. I never met a carpenter who was interesting in being portrayed as a self-promoting blow-hard in a video game forum.
Oh, is this one too late for anecdotes about PvP server population quality?
This one has some specific requirements before they will go to war. This one never throws the first punch and only torments those who were initially acting like posterior births. Griefers, bullies, ect… It’s just not fun to do what this one does to innocent or even reasonable players.
Back when server hopping was a thing, this one found that only about one out of every three or four servers had the kind of environment this one was looking for. Was there toxicity? Not everywhere, not even in half the places… But in the places that it was… It was extremely bad. Like some hateful ur-god with active malignancy had extruded it’s concentrated effluence into the servers, breathed some sham semblance of anti-life into the cess, and set them upon all and sundry.
Until server transfers are back, or the new events get more steam, there will remain the obfuscated Oliphant in the room regarding Siptah treasures on Exiled Lands servers. Any wipe imperils all that purchased advantage. There are many other reasons that many people oppose wipes, to be certain, but the nugget of pay to win poop stains hiding behind the decaying remnants of other evolutionary dead ends’ gear will be adamant on protecting their advantage.
After all, some of them have attained the self awareness to realize they need it. But the rest, like most everyone else, really get upset when their stuff gets yoinked.
Also, tiny plug that the ethical time to do a full wipe was during the merge-apocalypse. If it didn’t happen then, this one doubts it will ever happen.
Hopefully any new servers added will have seasonal wipes, synchronized with either the Battle Pass Seasons or Ages.
I did say PVE.
And so did you.
Are you implying that the PVE servers have a sizable amount of folks that are using body vaults to abuse the system and create havoc on an entire server?
My group is ready for our regular new server and starting over. This will be our 8th Conan server. Other than Total Warhammer, I easily have more hours in this game than any other in my library.
Irrelevant. Part of the game suffers, all of the game suffers. And yes it is a problem with server dynamics on PvE. Rebuilding from scratch allows a pause in the progress and potential to review your builds with the rest of the server.
