Is chapter 4 harder than chapter 1? Definitely. Although i believe that chapter 3 was a bit more tricky on mob combat, they had aim bot that’s only remaining to the orb fighters in this chapter.
Let’s see why.
Not infinite stamina. This small adjustment that was expected tbh, made a good step on balancing fights.
Now a fighter must always be careful with his encumbrance, a bit more and the dodge reaction changes dramatically. Now a player must count the hits applied and stay methodical through combat.
Perks changed.
Agility has been nerfed a bit it’s not so over powered anymore since rolling thrust was giving you humongous advantage of “spamming” almost continuous small combos melting everything to the ground really fast .
Grit, the same, it’s 33% now not 25%.
Vitality, i believe that glutton is not as it was when presented.
So these small but important nerfs i believe made combat a bit more understandable, a player can feel threat even in an over power build, which is good. Don’t get me wrong, i liked it a lot before it was awesome, but it’s easier to change the perks i guess than make every single opponent harder… Maybe, clear speculation here.
Purges!
They are harder, more punishing , speaking for the highest lvls of course, the lvl 1 remains lvl 1 and i feel that’s easier than presented. But maybe because of experience, i cannot be 100% positive in this one.
Although there were many complaints for not rewarding purges, i believe that these rewards are even more nerfed! In a lvl X purge my whole cages were named ones. Sometimes a tier 3 would show up. I have done a few lvl X purges after chapter 4 and the tier 3 are always now and mostly in plurality
. I don’t like this change even if it’s early to judge it, there must be a reason. Still i don’t like that. Yet it contributes to your question @SabunoHakia, it’s harder to get multiple named thralls on high lvl purges. Imagine that in lvl 9 on last chapter i got 3 Lianele from one purge.
Xp granted on new character is changed… A lot! I have humongous experience on recreating characters. In this chapter in my first effort of pushing lvling i went only lvl 21 after am hour, so, yes it’s good, a bit harder will be tolerable as well i believe. Of course if i stayed in jungle a bit longer than an hour i would easily go over lvl 40. But i witness in other sessions that 50 to 60 it’s time consuming. So i believe that right now the best timer to achieve a fast leveling will be at least 5 hours. Good! It is harder

Thralls!!!
In chapter 3 they hit bottom. I don’t believe that i ever seen them all these years that bad. And i am not speaking about their general behavior but for their ultimately bugged behavior that none hotfix mentioned for them, so… , sorry, but it was intentional 100%.
The new UI of thralls has made the game more difficult, so yes again Sabuno, it is harder. The removal of stop, that was a really cool option and will be missed, has made their lvling tricky again

. Thralls still stagger on many enemies and still refuse to follow orders correct and protect their self.
So in the thrall part, the game is more difficult than all times, which i don’t really enjoy tbh.
Combat behavior and bugs!
Players cannot be heavily staggered, they have dodge right? But now the game makes sure that eventually you’ll be rounded by many enemies, so freaking close that you meet death hopelessly! No shield, no combo, no weapon can save you unless you’re extremely lucky. The bug that you get stuck in the same position of dodge roll like the feet of your opponents npcs have magnets has returned!!! This bug personally is the worst combat bug in the history of Conan exiles, i hate it wholeheartedly so excuse my exaggeration here, but removing the freedom of our toon reduce dramatically the awesome battle feeling that this game has. Please fix yesterday and give to our player space when rounded, space of reaction and heroic exit. Since our drop on exile lands we have slayed thousands if not millions, our reputation should make us gods in the eyes of npcs. So these two behaviors make again the game more difficult my friend Sabuno.
Vault bosses!
They are more difficult when low lvl characters are going to face them, i love this change. After age of sorcery dropped, it was my first time i quit an effort on lvl 30 to defeat the outer dark spider, Bravo!!

Better than ever, all the npcs are hostile, superb.
I can mention more, way more that make the game a bit harder or easier. Yet these for me are the most important for me so far. I am pretty sure i have missed things, but that’s it, so far that’s my feedback.
Do i like it? Yes, absolutely! Not in the bug part, no way. Not in the thrall bad behavior, no way. But in the general target of the game to be less grinding but more difficult. Bravo @den keep it going please, i beg you. And thanks a million for reducing pointless rng from Siptah
