Have Repair Kits not just become trash? :(

Is it me or have repair kits become hot trash?.. Or even worse than trash? Since they actually ‘hurt’ your precious gear.

I get that early game they will have their use, but that seems like… Not enough.

I would almost say just remove them from the game?.. Or maybe better yet do some kind of ‘re-balancing’.

Since the changes to how repair kits work - significant Max durability loss… and no repairing of Legendaries using GM kits - i find them utterly useless.

Yet i find it hard NOT to pick them up and stick them in a box - yes… Loot goblin.
Doing so with a slight fear of accidentally applying them to some random gear while managing inventory. This is not a rewarding ‘gameplay loop’ :winking_face_with_tongue:

The BVs I have found and bases raided I’ve often thought “why are they keeping these?”

I suppose it is a symbol of holding on to the last vestiges that it could change lol

Pretty much. Personally they’re only suitable for repairing things I’ve looted at lower levels and have no intention of keeping.

Be aware that, unless something has changed, the sharpening stone at the end of the blacksmithing journal steps also reduces the durability of the weapon you want to repair and also the durability of everything else that you have on your hotbar. That was a rather nasty surprise.

I have a character camped on an official pvp server that has hundreds of them from the original Halloween event. All I can say is that when I camped that character for the last time the repair kits were still useful and somewhat rare outside of the event.

Some years later on a pve server my torch was running low in UC and I had no repair materials on me. That moment… when you repair a wooden torch with a grandmaster repair kit. Yeah, things change.

I save weapon repair kits for weapons meant to be illusioned and have durability loss after looting them off enemies.

The most vital use of weapon repair kits so far is to repair my torch in dungeons. I often start new characters and in this particular stage that you loot damaged higher level gear, repair kits are pretty useful.
On mid game i use it to repair gear for thralls use.
Late game it’s mostly useless, but having one just in case your torch breaks in a dungeon doesn’t hurt. And of course i won’t cry that my torch lost the durability, it costs nothing to fix a new one after. Then again in times my armor may break in dungeons, so i choose to repair it than have none, no matter if i dmg the durability of it.
It’s late game, i have a ton of materials to fix a hundred new armors :woman_shrugging:t4:.

it kinda depends on how you play and how long you’re planning on staying on a server. if i’m just going to be on a server for a few days to do a couple raids then bv i’m going to use npc gear from the mounds and fix it with repair kits. if i’m planning on playing on a certain server for a while i’ll repair the grear properly
