You can use any weapon there, but to make it a bit easier, you need ice weapons.

The King’s Conquest Purge (Level 4) is no ordinary purge; the goal is simply to survive for the duration of the event. Purge soldiers will place conquest banners in specific areas of your base to summon reinforcements (the banners act as spawn points for the troops). You must destroy these banners whenever you see more soldiers appearing in a specific area. Destroy the battering rams and catapults. There will also be mounted units. @Dana
