High Ping on official servers (EU)

Any news on the very high pinged official servers? Seem to bounce up and down very much. There’s no problem on my end, you just have to keep refreshing and in 10-20 min the ping goes down to normal again.

Was unable to join my regular server so i hopped onto a second official one and it was fine, but then the horrible Lag and High ping turned it’s gaze onto it. I recorded a video, the combat highlights what i’m having to deal with. Game is just unplayable for me still.

Yes, I am in the Oceanic area and in the official PVE section, there are a choice of 5 servers.

Presently all are unplayable with 2 of the 5 having a ping above 300 and therefore are not even open to join.

The other 3 are unplayable because of the high ping rate.. fighting is rediculous, and animals and NPCs are all over the show.

I have well over 1500 hours invested in this game, but sadly it is no longer enjoyable.

Please do something with that gportal, even best enchanted game will work porly on 3rd rate poor gportal servers. Can’t even enter servers becasue there ping from 245 to 457, and not allow me to join, from my side all is right becasue i play other mmo without problems.

Its nice to allow more players play together but not forget @Funcom that with 10/40 players gportal servers start burning.

And btw from what depend ping on server i wish join?

yeah its def a problem coming from Gportal, more than 5 player online and the server lag becomes unreal, no idea if the deal funcom made with them is only for 1 hammster power per server or Gportal is giving the bare minimum.

while official servers are unplayable, I hosted a private server at Indifferentbroccoli and its running perfectly, 0 complains

People are blaming GPortal for this, but is it really their fault? Do you have any tests to prove this? For example, has anyone set up their own server outside of Nitrado and GPortal, with 20+ players, and is there no lag? I don’t see any tests or confirmation of this.

If you look for old videos from the previous version of Conan, there was the same problem, massive lag on the servers

I think that is actually a fair point to raise.

At this moment, I do not believe it is possible for players to definitively prove whether the problem is entirely GPortal, the game itself, UE5 optimization, backend infrastructure, or a combination of all of these factors together.

What many players are pointing out is based mostly on repeated experiences:

  • private servers with strong hardware still suffering heavy lag

  • instability increasing during peak hours

  • desync becoming worse around large bases and high activity

  • similar symptoms happening across both official and private servers simultaneously

That naturally leads the community to question whether hosting infrastructure is part of the issue.

At the same time, I also agree with you that Conan historically had server performance problems even before UE5, which suggests that not everything can simply be blamed on GPortal alone.

Personally, I think the current situation is probably a combination of:

  • engine transition challenges

  • server optimization issues

  • backend/network instability

  • high player activity after the update

  • and possibly infrastructure limitations as well

That is why I believe the focus should remain on collecting feedback, videos, player reports, and real testing instead of turning it into a “who is guilty” discussion too early.

The important part is that the issues are real for many players regardless of the exact source:

  • massive ping spikes

  • rollbacks

  • disconnects

  • delayed combat

  • rubberbanding

  • instability on both official and private servers

Hopefully over the next patches we start getting clearer information and improvements, because the game currently has a real opportunity to grow again if stability becomes a priority.

Yes it was a bit back. The neebs gaming crew got together with NFCS to host a server with… 100 first come first server fans to play on. The server ran flawlessly, the only building had been doen by the server host to begin with but the server was built up a bit; just watch the series and see the tower by Simon. None the less the server ran fine till the host started spawning in end bosses buy the half dozen, thing got hectic, did crash the server twice. But ya, Gportil is a common denominator with on going connection issues IMCO.

But, unless some one corrects me, your ping does directly effect server ping. Right now there is 24 people on the server I have been playing on, ping is like 470. I’ve seen 24 on and the ping be 210. Last night there were 24 on and the ping was over 300, checked back in a couple hours, 21 people on, ping was done to 200.

Edit to add: 29 on ping is 285 LifIno.

Can you link some videos from this? i try to find it on youtube but 0 results ;/

I’ll check, but they may be part of the neebs gaming patrion thing.

But i think now people may be right, i try to find private server with alot of players, and i find something like this

60players and very low ping

Either they know a trick for really low ping, or they have powerful server hardware,

so it’s Gportal’s fault that the servers lag so much,

I have to server with Gportal and my server is dying when 20players are on it, on 10 its good ping, but with 20 server ping is 400 ;/ ehhh shity gportal

Ok just found a workaround, instead of waiting for the ping to go down below the limit to be able to join use Direct Connect!

Saw a guy on reddit post this tutorial, and it worked fine for me!

Tutorial:

  1. On Steam Library you can Right-Click on Conan Enhanced and press on “Properties”

  2. Then click on “Installed Files” and click on “Browse”

  3. Conan folder should pop-out where the game is installed, enter inside folder “ConanSandbox”

  4. Inside “ConanSandbox” folder, type at top right where is the “Search bar” the word: Game.ini and open it

  5. Look for Server IP of the server you played on, should show like this:

[FavoriteServers]
ServersList=(ServerName=“Official server #1768 PvP - g-portal.com”,IPAddress=“45.137.246.25”,Port=28200,UID=68401233D88B581BA6817BB8AE1D1934)

6. Now copy the IP and The Port and put them together, in current case, example:

45.137.246.25:28200

7. Now enter in Conan Exile Servers and click on Direct Connect, paste the IP and connect to your server.

8. Done :).

BUT PLEASE FUNCOM! FIX YOUR SERVERS AT G PORTAL!

Wasnt like this before the update. And no problem at my end. Using EA servers!

FWIW - it is the stated priority right now being worked on by all three companies. They’re even working the weekend, all hands on deck style. Everyone wants the problems fixed, but it should be reassuring that they are working on it.

Any update to the server ping issues?

Saw a post from Dana a few hours back saying they’re still working on it, and hope to have another hotfix out soon. Nothing definitive, but at least they aren’t giving up. (I’m still curious as to what improvement there might be if Living Settlements was turned off…)
