Medieval and antique period horses were small btw. Like ponies for kids these days. The tall appearance of modern horses is the result of breeding since prussian military times. Even ancient races are taller these days than they used to be centuries ago. The wild living horses in north- and south-america are probably closest to the appearance of the spanish peninsula horses in the 16th century.
Now if you look at horse depictions in ancient greek and egypt, even the most muscular stallions barely stand up to the breast of the figures surrounding them.
Horses in games don’t need to be pseudo historical, just believable. If they look all like Frank Frazettas horses that’s ok.

My Honest opinion of Horses here… (as someone who has a Aunt who runs a farm with Horses, Cow, Lambs etc) (many of which got awards =3)
The Horse of this game, and Skyrim come off as…
“In Soviet Russia, Horse rides you” Or the horse from Ren and Stimpy who looks like he takes drugs and could bench press you. XD

Just after seeing a PTR video on the horses that seem to still be very apparent.
Our community guy Jens_Erik about the warped view of the hind legs and back arch
Seems to still have a very outta wack back, slopes downwards a lot and honestly looks weird… hope they at least lengthen the hind legs to make the quarters stand higher and more normal looking before rolling out the finally version.

Yep…
Now that I played with them, the animation that they constantly bob up and down on their hind limbs is rly strange. Horses, cows ect just do that when they want to lie down or when they are about to pee. In general they are much too mobile. They move like wolves rather than the deers and gazellas in CE. Rocknoses have also a more believable movement repertoire.
