I think this release has not so much preference grievances but severe performance loss.

Everyone online is experiencing it both on console and PC, all game modes and Official and Private.

This is the most impactful issue regardless of the other problems that are clearly not working as intended or simply not agreeing with the change.

You are correct, especially players that got habituated to ā€œDone wrong, but on time for schedule :slight_smile:ā€

Oh I agree there but what is going on is highly dependent on server resources getting split due to population sizes and the surge of purge that is going on. I don’t think beta live can properly represent the server drains we are seeing in servers. Like I said before, I would have approved release if I didn’t see significant issues. Lesson learned is that beta live fails to replicate the complexities if official servers that have multi year build ups and hundreds of not thousands of body vaults lying around.

Bugs are par for the course with any game. Excessive bugs is par for the course with Funcom. I’m so desensitized to it now that stuff doesnt even really bother me, especially given their ā€œwe must updated the game ever 3 monthsā€ mentality now. How long did they work on sitpah again? And it still launched with more bugs than a dead corpse.

Lately though lets see:

  1. Bugs, such as the sated bug, have gone unresolved since 3.0. They made a patch about purges, but didn’t fix thrall pots or feeding boxes.
  2. Nemedian foundations had an ā€œoopsiesā€. Seems like everyone has forgotten about that one though.
  3. Someone at funcom fat fingered thrall decay, but at least they did a roll back for this one?
  4. Siptah decay timers are still off, and have been for 3 months.
  5. Not putting important changes in the patch notes. While it is true they did say at the end of AoS those vendors were temporary. They made it seem like they were fixing them in Ch 2 but ended up just removing them immediately and ā€œwhoops our bad we didnt mention itā€

Feel free to add to this list, these are just the things that have personally effected me. No one expects a perfect game but even for Funcom this quality is below their average. As I’ve said I see no benefit to the company in doing this, if you need to appease your owners (Tencent, and yes Funcom is one of the few companies they 100% own) you could have just released the pyramid set and let Ch 2 cook a little bit longer.

Yet we had the same issues with as few as 3 on a server.

And I’m sorry but I’m not buying this idea that players are going to accept late launches. Sorry but no. While I truly believe that everyone saying it believes they will show grace when that comes, I don’t doubt a very large majority will continue to rack FC over the coals if they declare a launch delay due to bugs. The phrase ā€˜haters goin’ hate’ is very much relevant to that as people will complain that the launch is delayed but the bazaar and battle passes are open. And don’t fool yourself, FC is a company and they aren’t going to delay their saleable products because the updates to the game aren’t done. I sure you can build a pyramid just fine in AoW Chpt 1 and don’t need to have chapter 2 released for it to function right. So with that, you will still get all the folks crying about ā€˜evil chinese companies’ and greed and FC only caring about cash and blah blah blah. So yeah, please. Before posting everyone would understand, do some self-refection and ask would you really?

that were online. How many characters are on the server with full inventories that are body vaulted? They aren’t taking up client space so it’s all on the server. That adds up. After 4 years, to significant portions.

You don’t buy into this idea because you’re right, some people will still complain. Some people will always complain and they tend to come to the internet to do so. Developers have understood for at least a decade now that you cant please everyone (and even attempting to do so will result you in pleasing no one).

The question is… what percentage of players is that really though? The ones that come to the forums? That’s an extreme minority. Also for the record most people understand that Tencent has no creative control over this game. They didn’t tell Funcom to make any of these updates or what should be in them. All they care about is getting their ā€œtaxesā€. Tencent owns thousands of companies, they do not micromanage them. If Funcom is struggling to pay their ā€œtaxesā€ to the big man then it makes a lot of sense why they need to get the new bazaar items out asap.

No one asked for the ages though. While they have set this new expectation almost everyone knows that this schedule is not giving the Team enough lead time, clearly.

3 months is such a small time to develop and overhaul many systems. It’s unrealistic given their capacities.

It has created distrust and lack of confidence in the ability to deliver these promises.

We’ve not only seen them not come good on those promises, but completely change what they announced or not informed us of very important removals.

When they announced this new model I showed extreme doubt in their ability to deliver quality updates every 3 months. I believe I even said the concept ā€œterrified meā€.

I was heavily berated for this ā€œhot takeā€ even by some of the people here on this forum complaining now.

You guys know I am a CE fan. Currently I’m playing Baldur’s Gate 3. How do you come back from that masterpiece to this bug fest?
Cyberpunk’s Phantom Liberty DLC will be available Sunday. Probably I’ll do another playthrough before trying CE AoW chapter 2. I find myself not missing this game at all… sad, really.

I would have if I was a FC exe. Ages holds dev teams accountable. The player base was already seeing a slowing down on development and started questioning the life expectancy of CE. While they didn’t want ages, they did want consistent updates and developments on time tables. They were begging for new content to purchase and try out. They wanted sorcery, they wanted the purge revised, they wanted updates to combat, they still want pets redone, they want thralls to matter.

3 months is a short amount of time and I think starting with sorcery was a bit too much since they have been trying sorcery out for YEARS. It set the stage of expectation of what ages would encompass and maybe AoW is trying too hard to be as significant as AoS. I can see this as a means to scale that back somewhat since you can’t take something you have been working off and one for years as the model for all fiscal Q updates. Dennis needs to speak up more about that and just lay out reality. That’s his job as lead dev.

I bought Baldurs Gate 3 but have no intention of playing it. Turn based RPGs aren’t my style… but good behavior deserves to be rewarded.

They weren’t mine for YEARS either, @Obsidious . I bought it with the same thought you had in mind. I’ll reward these dudes. That’s what I thought.
All I can say is try it. It takes a couple of days getting accustomed to it again, but I assure you it is completely worth it. It might be the best game in a decade.

I’m sure Elden Ring 2, or at least some DLC, is in the works. Fromsoft is one of the few companies out there killing it. Those damn Japanese man… it must be their whole work honor code or something.

They would actually feel shame if their game was even half as messed up as a typical funcom patch.

Sorry. That was on at the same time on the PVE betaserver.

Sure, many asked for new content. DLC packs were the expectation and the majority of players seemed to be happy with it.

When they announced Ages I think it did hype up Conan. But players didn’t ask for it or on this schedule.

I agree AoS came out with a bang. Set very high expectations. They also had a lot of time to work on it like you’re saying. Sure it wasn’t perfect but it came out pretty good all things considered.

Now they have 9 month ages with 3, 3-month chapters each. Every single chapter they’re playing catch-up because they’re having to devote immense resources to fixing bugs and it would appear less time into actually getting out the new content on schedule as polished as possible.

Battle pass and BLB can still be done without the ages.

Fromsoft titles are among my favorites.

I’m not sure if they will ever fix the game. I’m not even sure they know how. CE seems more like a side job now. I assume they are focused on Dune. Once it comes out, CE enters maintenance mode. That’s my bet.

Whatever their plans, I’m not sure they will ever be capable of fixing the game :notlikethis:
