I’m coming from ark where all the official servers are ran by huge alpha tribes that just cheat and dupe items. I want to know if this game is similar or would it be better to find a private server to play on?
I get the impression that private servers are more grief resistant. Owners of the servers don’t put up with much and will quickly delete all offending players and clans. From what I see on forums, official servers can take quite a few days to take any corrective actions, or maybe none at all. They do care what happens, but have more leeway for griefers to stretch the rules.
There is duping and under meshing, but on top of that the servers often break. Mobs and thralls will just stop responding completely and servers crash often. Coming from Ark that was pretty jarring for me because although dupes and meshing are rampant, the servers are stable. These same issues existed when I last played over a year ago so I don’t see Funcom as much better than WC in this regard.
Official is fine, it’s where the real challenge is. There’s a few trolls, but since you can’t cross server transfer it’s not run by mega tribes (same reason I left Ark).
