How do i deploy a Stygian Alchemist thrall after capturing?

I have a captured couple of thralls ( cook&alchemist) after putting them in the wheel of pain, I am trying to deploy them but it wont work. is there something missing or another method to deploy them?

Open the cauldron with square, put the alchemist back into your inventory and move it into the cauldron, put it in the “thrall” box above the inventory.
