There needs to be a basic players guide that tells how to do all the different actions within the Conan Exiles isle of Siptah.
For example, when I kill an an animal a pop up happens that says “Harvest Corpse” and yet I have tried everything I can think of and nothing happens! There are no instructions or tutorial that show what to do either. Very frustrating.
Hit it with a tool. Hatchet, pick, pickaxe, scythe, skinning knife, cleaver depending on what youre trying to harvest.
You on official or private and mods cause I’m on Xbox right now and I don’t have that pop up at all. Take it you on pc?
The pop up might be a hint to do a journey step. IIRC there is one called “harvest a corpse” or similar to that.
And yes, Jamesbtex, the game is a bit hard to learn. That is on purpose, though, I think. The game is about discovering stuff: things your character can do, new areas, hidden caves, the mystery of what the f… happened in the Exiled Lands. Conan Exiles is a little bit like a giant, multi-dimensional puzzle.
Probably everybody had his or her moment of, uhm, enlightenment of how one game mechanic or another actually works. Or even is there.
For example… I never bothered to take thralls (followers) with me, fearing they’d die. Much safer to keep them all nicely hidden behind walls in my home base!
When you reach that stage (i. e. able to capture and enslave people): Do that. Use it. That’s a central game mechanic.
Welcome to the forum and the game, as @Tuffman said very right use tools to harvest.
Axe gives you meat, skin and occasionally head.
Pick gives you meat, skin and bones.
Cleaver gives you more meat and occasionally head
Skining knife gives you skin and occasionally some meat.
It’s a sandbox game, it has no tutorials, feel free to ask anything you need here.
A small tip for beginners is to fix foundations so you can put walls and door frames. I remember when I started the game, a sandstorm came and I fixed some wall but of course I couldn’t build and died
