How to enlarge the map without weighing the system down

, ,

hello, I have an idea to enlarge the conan exiles map without crashing the whole system is already at the limit.
creating a visual expansion on the map, however, limited by a wall (example: a mystical wall evoked by tulsa doom), to overcome this wall we must have a portal that will launch us into these new lands.
that’s where the trick is, when traveling through the portal to these new lands, the player would be leaving conan exiles and entering a conan exiles 2, but visually on the map we would be seeing only one place, the giant land of exile.
on the map we would be in a gigantic game never seen before, but by traveling to these new lands, we would be entering a new game with much more space for new creations.

I get what you mean, basically you go through the portal and out the other end is a whole new map which is still connected to the exiled lands but doesn’t share the same space or resource drain … I have no idea how any of that works technically or if it’s possible but that’s also my thinking too haha

Perhaps instead of your character being deleted after completing the main story and removing your bracelet you walk through the green wall and instead get access to another map?

It needs a second server running. Can be done with mods connecting two servers but it cant be done on the same server instance.

What your talking about is called fazing.
you go through a load door to a new map.

This only reduces impact on your own system only, it doesn’t reduce the burden on the server
it increases it. Because the server is now running multiple maps. It also increases the lag because now more connections need to be made to the server.

MMO’s can do this because they are much, much lower impact (polygons) than Conan Exiles.
A single CE figure is like 10 figures in it’s closest equivalent game (think dinosaur).
And the information packet transferred is huge compared to most games.

So while you are half right it wouldn’t “weigh down” your system it would the server and internet. and people are already complaining of lag because so much of the internet infrastructure is outdated.

I think it is a good idea, I just don’t think it’s technically possible at this time.

And would change the games genre as with load screen dividers it would then no longer be “Open World”.
