I am really losing it. Went to Midnight Grove as journey instructed me. Went to bull boss. My follower decided not to jump. So I had to fight the boss by myself. Annoying mechanics, but I managed. Little did I know my follower in the meantime was killed by gorilla. The only way that could have happened iwas if my follower stuck and was not fighting back. Oh well. Not the first time this game screws me. Went to final boss. Whoever designed it must be the biggest troll. Fighting that guy you have a 0.3 sec window to attack while your attack take a 1 sec. So I died…and spawned inside the wall in my castle. And that is it. I can remove bracelet, but I end up in the same place. AI messed up, game does not recognise unobstructed space next to the bed and your whole gamethrough is down the drain. Seriously, FunCom.

It happens indeed! That’s why i don’t trust followers years now!
In cases of bosses of dungeons i build warrior and care not if they 'll survive or not. After all i am the hero isn’t it.

This boss…
Some bosses in this game are there to make us think twice.
See arena champion fight without a second key in house for example, you loose everything!
So this dungeon final fight teach us two things.
1st put a preservation box next to your alchemist bench and have some potions ready to use.
2nd put a gear chest full equipped next to your bed.

Always have your best warrior next to your bed so when you die you spawn in bed, gear up fast, command your warrior to follow and either travel with obelisk, either use the potion from the preservation box to ho back and retrieve your belongings.
Don’t spawn on dungeons, unless you died somewhere that’s not necessary to do all the above.

This game is all about knowledge. Even the most experienced die you have my word on it. This game can make you feel “small” in seconds.
Welcome to Conan exiles m8, nice to have you around!

They used to. Now they are here to make you spam dodge with full agility build.

I cannot count the times i died from overconfidence. It’s a bad way to go! All you need is a lag and Arena champion will crash you like a cockroach. Then again, in the case of the final werewolf he was always this way, a boss that needs humongous immersion to defeat alone. Now he just needs you to have good perks and good dmg outcome so the fastest to kill wins. And yes his windows to attack him are one every 60 sec if you wish to play him safe with shield! You have to wait for him to howl so you’ll attack.
But this conversation has nothing to do of how easy or hard is for a veteran to kill something. It has to do with how a new player see this dungeon and finally it’s boss.
Reading the topic of @Egis511 reminded me my first impression that was really close, i died too.
Did you happen to survive @SpherisCore?

If you mean the very first time I fought the Werewolf, yes I did survive… Because I was with friends, and we were all playing Pokemon when pets were still super strong :snake:

Now if you mean the first time I fought it solo, I still survived quite easily, because back then stamina cost was quite low and all you had to do was take a Katana, dash through the boss, spam light attacks until it died, fully staggered, unable to attack you.
→ There also used to be a perk that boosted light attack damage, which helped.

Now I have to admit that if you’re playing with high latency, things can get rough, even against a crocodile XD
But if I’m not having a huge lag spike, I will never die to the Arena Champion… Just pick the right perks :notlikethis:
→ The Arena Champion hits so hard that your armor and health do not matter, so max out grit and pick Steel Thewed; this way even if you mess it up, you simply do not get one shot, you just roll, heal, and go back in.
→ That being said, the Arena Champion is much easier than the Werewolf, she is just a human NPC, so pick a weapon that can knock her down (1H Sword or Axe both work really well).
Before the Age of War, you could use the same Katana tactic because you dashed through her and staggered her to death with light attacks, but not anymore due to stamina costs.

↳ Now to the question of whether I died to the Arena Champion solo, the answer is yes.
Back when I dropped playing with followers, pets and thralls, I started soloing everything with daggers.
Then I found out some bosses should be fought with a shield.
But neither of those were reliable against the Arena Champion (she eats your stamina with shield, and NPCs could break out of stunlock which was enough to die with daggers)

I quickly found that you should fight the Arena Champion alone and just watch her attack before you engage. She becomes extremely predictable, and thus, not a threat anymore since she will never hit you… Except if you’re lagging hard, but that’s not exactly part of the game design, it is artificial difficulty.

So the real question is, if you’re playing in Single-Player, thus with no latency, is there really anything that can kill you?

Yes! Your overconfidence if you are veteran and your lack of knowledge if you are a new player!

Beep. Wrong answer!
The only thing that kills me is when I don’t pay attention while running around and suddenly you fall off a cliff :notlikethis:

Add to that being a veteran and your ankle-biter two-year old decides this is the only time to want parental attention…

You have got to sift through the excellent Neebs Gaming videos for their streams on Conan Exiles - rolling backwards into lava is also a thing. Still laughing.

Again overconfidence death .

I like how you steered the conversation away from terrible game bugs to talk some sort of gaming psychology about overconfidence. Literally off topic. The OP brought a thrall , the game decided to not teleport the thrall to him which happens too often to ignore, he has every right to be pissed. Ive had fully leveled thralls fall through the map and insta die for no reason. Lets not white knight for this game please. Its a fun game but writing novelas about how to fight arena champions wont solve anything or make anyone feel better.

Appreciate the recommendations, but I have 2.7 k hours in this game. I know all that. I was simply not expecting to respawn inside the wall, literally.

Funny thing is I have never considered Arena champion hard, as I play with shield most of the time. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Its all good. I appreciate people trying to help. Its just that this game became especially littered with bugs lately.

Sorry for the misunderstanding m8!

No. I just feel anger and agression rising up my chest seeing the changes to stamina and npc camps. So I do not even have the slightest of interest to login right now. I can not bring myself to play and I played through every update in this game good or worse.

Playing a game should be somehow enjoyable. This update isn´t enjoyable at all. Funcom took it too far this time.

There are always chores. Online, it is the grind. We talk about how to improve the experience. We talk about immersion aspects. We talk about fun!

Some things may not be fair, but are they fun for all?

Tbh, i didn’t like the last sorcery update. I didn’t like the eclipse, i know it sounds weird, but i like the moon of this game. So since moon didn’t exist i didn’t feel like playing. So i understand a million % what you say.
With heavy heart i read your absence my friend. I wish soon enough we’ll have you back in game. But for gods sake the forum has nothing to do, so stick around my friend :metal:
