Corrupt DB is a problem that happens for a set of circumstances, not all of them due to game development problems. In fact, most of them.
The DB does not really do much. DB in games is confused as much as DNA in biology. DB is only information, and it does not have any power of making stuff. In most cases, DB errors are harmless. They become a problem in some circumstances due to bad code (and I know that to be the case in CE code in certain aspects) when the people doing the code forget to verify things before using things.
For a game that accommodate mods like CE do, even if the actual mods cannot be used in console, the code still more or less “the same”, they sure dont verify things as much as they should.
However, if console does not allow exterior code into the game, it should not matter. Should, but it would.
There is something there that makes NO SENSE at all. This game, like many games, is audited by people before it goes into Steam or PS, or XBOX, so it comply with certain design rules. There is no access to the raw system whatsover, and when it tries to use the own OS features to do so in a way it is not permitted, it crashes in one of the many ways the OS crashes unruly programs, like Malloc crash for example.
However, people love to break the safeties of their consoles for N number of reasons, and most of them, dumb.
I am PC player, and I dont play console for fun. However my wife does play games in console, and in many cases I do too when I am playing with her. I know how console works, not only because I play it, but also I can open it up and tell you what each component there do, why it is there, and how if works, as my first field of work was Mechatronics. (some northfolk mention of it:http://engineering.nyu.edu/mechatronics/Control_Lab/Criag/Craig_RPI/SenActinMecha/Comprehensive.pdf)
Half of what people talk about when they are talking about it is crap. The equipment does not work the way they imply it does, neither does the software.
Like those people who imply they installed an app the totaled their phones.
While the phone does “stop working”, it is just “somewhat” reset their “DB” and they work fine afterwards.
What often happens is that people, both with consoles, phones and computers, who are prone to “break the envelope” with installing stuff, are also prone to disrespect safety protocols.
Those go to the long line of things you are fed because you might believe it, like VPN protects your privacy, or crypto is decentralized.
Anytime I can go to the next room and fire up conan exiles on XBox, and I often do to verify the crap people tell about it, and it simply does not work the way they say it does.
Neither does all this phone stuffs, unless I enable developer mode, or deactivate safety protocols, or “jailbreak” the thing. All things either very skilled or very stupid people do.
