If you play alone then you seek for flexibility and swiftness! So light is your armor set!
My main is war axe, but you are going to choose yours. However each world boss have weaknesses in a kind of weapon and they are all unique!
I choose 1h war axe to be able to carry torch. What you must focus when playing light armor is your grit! The third perk of your grit will make your body armor and the fourth will make you a small beast. Yesterday a friend here asked me to go to all the vaults solo just with the sorcery build to take all the sigils. So I placed my attributes this way
And at the end I took them all
If you’re very new however I would suggest you to capture thralls, or create zombies, or pets and play the game with companionship! Step by step is always best!

If it bleeds, we can kill it. Or in other words, daggers are good against most bosses. It may be tricky hitting with them against some bosses, but once you get the hang of it, daggers brutalize the slow, big and dumb ones. A few monsters have a ton of armor, so you’ll need weapons with good armor penetration against them.
I tend to prefer light armor because I can carry more stuff without being overencumbered, but if you have access to Skelos Master Cultist robes, and if you have a thrall with you, those can be crazy good. Heavier armor means you’ll take less damage if you get hit, but against bosses, the point is not getting hit in the first place. You can get ~50 % damage reduction with light armor and Grit, or 65 % with medium armor (the aforementioned Skelos Master) and Grit. That should be enough to keep you alive against the occasional poorly timed dodge.

Oh I will! But it’s important to make a post with concentration!
When I finished the harpies my heart was beating so fast and for about half hour I left everything from my hands, just smoking and thinking other things! This fight was In TENSE all the way… Totally thrilling…
