The many posts making wild claims about problems with the game that concern mostly server play and for the reasons that servers are poorly optimized to work in this game, are what probably let to a series of ill conceived workarounds that will not solve any problem because you dont “work around” optimizations without optimizing.
One of them lately has made several areas in the game be virtually impossible to build, as the terrain trigger some sort of correction measure that makes the character stop considering building pieces as solid objects.
You can leave the area, go back and they seem to be back solid. But as soon as you reach a certain point, you “sink in” and then until you teleport or restart the game, the building objects top being solid “forever”.
I have tested in a Virtual machine with just windows, steam and a fresh working install of conan exiles, and the problem is the same, so no mods, no nothing, new game, and the problem is the same.
Areas affected by it are the tundra biome, the forest edging the desert and the area south of the pirates in the eastern side of the forest. I havent tested other areas to find more, but those are the ones in which it “always” happens.
Maybe you guys should re evaluate what problems to solve, and the server problems you should first take that “networking guy” you have, or hire one, and make a SERVER, not rely on patch work.
It’s frustrating how dismissive this person is of others’ concerns and opinions, often reducing them to nothing. Yet now, he expect everyone to take his issues seriously?
Honestly, as someone with a background in databases and networking, I don’t see many game studios employing dedicated database or network specialists—aside from a select few. Games that use these technologies efficiently are rare, so rare you could count them on one hand, even without the “Chinese counting method.”
Let’s see, so when lots and lots of other people report problems they’re “wild claims”, but when you experience problems suddenly they’re real. It’s astonishing how narcissistic that attitude is. You consistently refuse to acknowledge that other could be experiencing problems even when you don’t, but somehow it’s real once you’ve seen it. That’s some pretty impressive hubris.
If we were to treat you like you treat other people, then the response from everyone in this thread would be that you’re now making “wild claims”. Instead, maybe this is your opportunity to have an honest look in the mirror and see how condescending, patronizing and dismissive you are of all the other people who complain about bugs. Not holding my breath but this should be your opportunity to see your own hypocrisy and learn some sympathy and empathy for other people who experience problems that you don’t.
Wow, talk about terrible logic, not to mention terrible troubleshooting from someone who likes to brag about his technical skills.
Correlation is not causation, that’s bad logic.
Even if what you’re reporting is true and not a “wild claim”, you have no basis for making the assumption that the bug was caused by “ill conceived workarounds” for bad optimization. Anyone with professional technical experience knows very well that bugs can some from surprising sources, it’s entirely possible for them to introduce terrain related bugs while working on tasks that are not related to optimization. Unless you have access to the source code an have inside knowledge of recent attempts at changes & fixes then the reality is you have no idea about the root cause.
It’s also bad troubleshooting.
This is especially true when you don’t have access to the source code.
When one considers that this kind of thing happens in many games, there’s no reason to leap to the conclusion that it’s related to some change made as a workaround for optimization nor necessarily related to anything having to do with the database used by the game engine.
This could just as easily be caused by some change made to one or more textures.
Or it could be the result of trying to resolve meshing issues and creating a fix that causes other problems.
Or… ya’ know, something else that none of use can know because we don’t have inside information.
I’m sure you actually downloaded something onto your computer without realizing it which is actually the root cause of your issues and not the game itself. It cannot possibly be the game.
