When building, you’re able to easily change a lower tier item with another, in place.
It just highlights and upon clicking will destroy the block, place the new block, and refund a bit.
ie: replacing sandstone foundation for arena foundation.
Is there a way to replace same tier items?
Like holding a certain key while trying to place will allow arena foundation to be in-place swapped with Turanian foundation?

Generally, not that I know of. You can replace walls by using a window or doorway piece and then another wall. I have not done it, but you may be able to do the same with hatch pieces and floors/ceilings. Same concept so hopefully it works. It’s less than ideal but that’s how I replace walls that face the wrong way when I can’t destroy them.
An invaluable tip when trying to upgrade to T3 but the current wall prevents you seeing which way the new wall will be facing.
I tend to dismantle then replace, just take care to monitor stability.
The building system has so many bugs and/or makes straightforward no sense at all.
Many things can only be set, when there is no roof… But puting one after it is fine!!!
The next thing is: Why you are not able to put WALLS around a foundation, but when you have the walls up first, you can put a foundation in it?!?! WHYY???
Another thing: If you use the Arena doorframs as walls, you cannot put a roof on it, in edges… One wall has to a normal one. And if you replace this wall with a doorframe after you put the edge-roof piece on it, it will get destroyed.
Even with 100 stability.
that’s why i like spamming the T1 doorframes before upgrading the walls. It maintains 100% stability.
They don’t make it easy, but I have found that if you stand really close to the wall and look at it at an angle you can usually see if it’s yellow or white. Maybe flip it a few times to see it change. With some of the wall types you can also see the profile change too, like the posts/spikes on the outside of t2/t3 brick walls.
Coming from a long time on an official server those big green placement arrows from the (I think!) less building placement restrictions mod make it so much easier. That’s not an option for everyone though!
