I see this argument a lot.
What I don’t see is FC advertising a strong item. Funcom should post stats on items but they don’t. So when a OP weapon or building piece is posted in a Battlepass or Bazaar listing. They aren’t advertising it. Someone has to take the chance and maybe get a overpowered item, or an underpowered one.
Where the players get a little insincere is how they react. If the item is underpowered. They complain. “I spent good money on this and its worthless!” But when its overpowered… do they bug report it? Not normally. They abuse that knowledge for as long as they can.
Fortunately ego plays a big role and they can’t keep their mouths shut about it and like to boast about their good fortune. Then you get some complaints about it. Of course when it does get fixed, everyone gets all cynical. Those who bought the item get ticked that their purchase was nerfed (because lets face it, they bought it for the advantage), and those who missed out make statements like the one I quoted here.
Meanwhile the mistake that Funcom is making is giving these items stats and functionality to begin with. You can’t add a few hundred items to the game every few months and not have errors. Entering those values in like that is going to have some goofs, and even if you copy and paste items, you’re going to forget minute changes. So cut all that out entirely, make everything cosmetic only and these things won’t happen.
Until then players are going to want to take advantage of the situation.
