Nope, the hammer system is worse and you’ll never convince me that it’s not. Not necessarily some of the other changes to the building system, just the new hammer system Why? Because it “gates” certain items and I’ll explain this a bit more below. Also, look at what I actually said in the post you just quoted. I said “for the most part” I didn’t say it was 100% better in every single way.

We don’t need the hammer based system to have a better building system. You can have the copy function without having the hammer based system. A single key could be bound to “copy” or they could easily implement a “build” mode that does not require a hammer, that everyone can use. You can have a pick up function as standard if you “own” the items. You do not need the hammer based system for that. It could have very easily been put on the hold “E” menu. They could have improved the snap-to function without implementing the current system.

One big issue with the hammer system? You cannot place anything that requires a hammer to build unless you can build that item. When you pick it up it goes back to its component parts, it does not pick up the actual item. This means if I have a clan mate who doesn’t have the DLC that I have and I want them to help me build a base using specific DLC building pieces that they can’t access because they don’t own the DLC, then I can no longer make the pieces in bulk, drop them in a container, and have my clan mate pick them up and help me build. They have used the hammer system to gate content. They’ve fooled most of you into thinking the hammer system is better when it was actually implemented to RESTRICT players. Of course they could have implemented the “gate” without making a hammer. The hammer itself isn’t really the problem, it’s the SYSTEM.
