I have to admit I have one foot out the door. I logged into my server last night for all of 5 minutes and then logged back off.
I feel like a lot of changes in this Age have done little to actually progress and add to the gameplay and, instead, have just thrown it in a box and shook it around a little. It’s not fundamentally better or new, it’s just different. Feels like meetings for the sake of meetings: to LOOK productive and point and say “we rebalanced the entire game!” Okay, but why? Changes were made that negatively impact progression (getting a greater wheel of pain). I can at least change that via server settings on private but from a conscious design choice it feels like it was t fully thought out.
The Age has been a letdown. There was more story in AoS than we’ve had at all in Age of War. There was a brand new mechanic that was fleshed out and that impacted different things. For AoW chapter 1, we got coffers that were useless. Chapter 2 is trying to do something with it but, from what I’ve seen, it’s NOT polished, especially for being held back from initial Age release.
I doubt I’d quit playing entirely unless private servers were no longer allowed but I have lost a lot of the excitement and anticipation.
