OK this seems to be PVP topic only so please take the response in this same assumed focus.
Why? Because it’s still a representation of what I create and if the creation dictates T3, then so be it.
Functionally? I wonder why anyone builds in public period. Stealth builds are the only builds that seem to survive longer than 3 weeks of activity so why bother at all with making castles
This is a simple example how you can fix an entrance, not so easy to go in, how you will place your defense however comes to the ground of your build territory.
No mater the foundations that will break, they will never be able to climb up, allowing to someone climb on your roof you just lost, especially in raid of you are doomed.
This example is just with 2 foundations, that means your entrance is 200k more difficult to enter.
Now imagine putting a Teimos 10k hp up there shooting explosive arrows but with the simplest bow. All you need is to save your last piece of entrance, if Teimos has 400 explosive arrows he will make their life really difficult to enter and put new bombs.
Defense costs yes, but better some arrows than your whole base .
This is just a simple example, without cheats, just with the provided mechanics of the game.
Well it better use hatch with anti climb when you open hatch it blocks anti climb allowing you to climb but raider wont have that luxury after hatch destroyed he would have destroy anti climb.
Plus problem about your door again 25 k it would be better connect drawbridge at 200k. Then weak point be your foundation and not entrance.
@Styker
True, you can put six foundations on a row…
This is just a simple example, you have multiple options to do difficult entrance without exploits. In some bases I use another example in the past, later on I will fix one and I will send you. Still this demands tree bridges, but you can do it very successfully with flotsam pieces or sandstone. Wait for photos, I am still working , in some hours I’ll be home fixing example and sending it.
This is just the suggestion, or an idea of what I was doing to make them regret trying to enter from the front door .
Some people draw thralls to their raids, so their thralls end up in my palisades, .
At the time I was logged in I had a door and door frame.
When I was logging out I was removing the door frame and I was putting the beehives. So the flotsam piece was breaking and the rope bridge was off . I was making this route at least double with a pillar in the middle, and I was removing the first rope bridge of the beginning, so they were trapped and doomed when I was in the game , they couldn’t move a lot, they couldn’t escape, so bye bye raid . I did this because I was farming a lot and most of the times they were raiding when I was alone, so I needed to stop it alone or buy time until my clan mates arrived.
It gives you the option of choosing where your weak point is, to lure people into traps or dead ends. Or even just so you only have to repair a few doors after someone raids you. Why would someone attack T3 foundations if there’s a door there?
I’ve been saying since they removed stacking, I think they want people to make PVE builds on PVP so raiding is constant and you can’t use the building system to really stop it. It’s just a theory but I think it checks out.
@Firecrow
I participated a lot in private pvp servers, not a lot in official. The most builds were always beautiful and smart and since they had no limits from admins how much they could build, I’ve witnessed wonders on pvp servers, wonders that pve builders cannot imagine. Sometimes I see in pve servers pvp builders with elegance, builders that play to pve to relax from the pvp madness, but still they use foundations and pvp ways to build, however, because they build this way they leave all the doors open so people can go in and admire their builds, trust me, these builders are admirable.
I play on official PVP on xbox, and here’s my experience:
I build aesthetically first, defensive second, but I use doors strategically. I use them to create predictable points of entry and to compartmentalize my base and slow progress of raiding my base. I create tunnels of doors that slow progress through my base, giving me time to either mount a defense or gather my things and bolt out the backdoor. As @stelagel said, PVPers can build some amazing structures. When I get the chance, I can show you what my former base in progrees looked like before it decayed due to a loss of interest (we were getting raided for a solid 2 months of war. I got burned out bad) the outer wall was honeycombed via traditional methods and my inner core had doors between each segment of the interior to slow progress. When I was online, it was nearly impossible to attack me because I know the layout and could attack them from nearly any angle. They only got in my base when I was offline, and even then the doors slowed their progress enough that the rest of my clan was able to get there and fight them off before they made any serious progress.
TL;DR: Doors are useful for slowing progress and creating predictable paths for raiders to follow. They are not, however, strong enough to encourage someone to blow through a foundation instead.
I personally destroy any foundati9ns. Because if it is 9nly using fo7ndati9ns for outer walls, then the whole column colapses. take out 7 foundations (@140 bombs) and ceilingbtiles start to go as well. 3 raiders from 3 sides will collapse a cube in <15 minutes. If they are online then increase bombs to 200, as you will want to spam attck the foundations.
@biggcane55
And you my friend were a pain. Some players scout your build so correct and hit you exactly in a place you can react the less. Traps are good only if the mice bites. That’s why I said in the past , eventually we all end up to desert, no matter how good you build, no matter how good you fight, there will always someone who will manage to send you there . If you don’t like to see your toon naked in the desert, don’t play pvp, simple as that.
By the way my Bella has a wonderful body and this equalizes the situation .
See this is why I don’t build cubes of foundations. I guess coz I’m a solo, it’s a MASSIVE pain to farm up enough stuff to build a whole building out of foundations, and just not worth it when people will get in anyway. I’d rather farm for a couple of sessions, hide my good loot and have my benches and stuff in a PVE style building with walls and doors that can be bombed or trebbed through in a minute or two.
Better that than cry bitter tears because I farm for weeks to make a foundation fortress that falls in 15 minutes
usually only raid people who get on my nerves either in chat or try to pve only on pvp servers (the ones that cry and recruit players to fight thier battles if you do just basic raid). Those i try and wipe regardless of how they built.
If they seem cool and try and pvp defend, i usually friend. Most of my long term CE friends/clan mates were enemies that understood it was pvp. And like the pvp part.
