Is this ban evasion?

So a group on the server recently got banned for a number of offenses which I won’t outline as even mentioning these exploits seems to get posts hidden. But due to the way bans take hold they had plenty of vaults and enough time just to go and give them to new characters they bought on fresh accounts and they are just at it again.

I don’t want to be constantly running to teacher with reports, but is doing this a ban evasion? Or is it considered ok?

Alt accounts are against the ToS so no, its not okay.

Alt accounts are the only reason console pvp is still a thing.

why so (im from pc)? what going on consoles anyway?

As means of ban evasion go, my understanding is the punishment can be very severe if someone is caught doing it.

What’s been going on for some time now is mass reporting. People in here will laugh about it and say I’m complaining blah blah but the the reality is it’s destroyed pvp. My clan recently came back to play (8man clan) we join a busy server with other big clans. 4 days in after wining a lot of fights we start to get threats of reports. My clan plays by the rules but in hopes to keep everyone from completely deleting the game we left the server. It’s not worth a ban or permanent ban. “But you don’t get permanent banned on your first account” yea well tell that to 5 of my clan mates who’ve been banned for 3 months now after one offense.
Why alts? Because the game has come down to whoever cries first wins. Battle pass? Pvpers could t buy it even if they wanted to. It’s essentially throwing away money. I have two permanent banned accounts. Never cheated and didn’t not break the tos at least from what I’ve seen and that’s all that I can go on since we get no information. Very frustrating state of game currentl. I’m not even going to get into the awful lag n new gen consoles.
Private servers are non existent even if people wanted to go that route.

Ummm did I miss that in the ToS? It’s frowned upon and if used to abuse and disrupt another’s game, then yes but I didn’t see anything that apt accounts itself is an issue.

I have read the rules.

and if I have understood correctly in case of reporting.

a moderator comes to investigate the server.

this is the case. or did I misunderstand?

I will dig it up, but being suspended and creating an alt to circumvent it will result in a perma ban iirc.

If nothing else, it qualifies as an exploit for circumventing the suspension.

Quick test. If someone has an alt account for an official server, put in a zendesk report giving them your two accounts and ask what they will do. Policy is to not discuss exploits by Funcom (or us) in the forum. So zendesk is the sensible place to put in the question about your own accounts. Go ahead. Make my day.

I say it as is: it doesn´t matter if you play by the rules on officals or not. If someone wants you gone you will be gone. That is a fact.

Using Alts have alsways been your best option to survive on officials. Put most of your stuff in non clan alts and log them off. Play with your friends with another alt and if that alt gets banned, then you can come back and take what you need from the other alts and start over.

It doesn´t matter if Funcom likes alts or not of if they are forbidden or not. People do it nonetheless, because its their way of survival. The ban only hurts the people that tried to play fair. Because they have no backup and are in the believe they would never get banned because they play by the book.

That is a separate issue. Issues with reporting will go unheard if people result to means that will justifiably get them a further suspension/ban. It undercuts the point.

The real issue is that the rules don´t matter. Funcom can come up with whatever rules they want, people don´t care. They look for the flaws to then take advantage of them and thats it. Funcom has no hold over this people. Accounts have become so cheap it doesn´t make any difference.

Latest if you get banned twice in a row for no reason other then playing on officials you will start disregarding them too, because you feel betrayed by the devs.

Pvp in Conan has turned into a toxic hellfire over the years and the devs only put gasoline on top with their ruling system. And the worst part is they know it. Thats why they hide behind Zendesk. They are playing the unreachable game and take the money that gets spent on alt accounts. I hear nothing, I see nothing and I dont care. This game is played on both sides.

This is why I think pvp players have to solve this with private servers (without derailing to that topic again). I agree that it won’t be addressed, not because I blame Funcom for not caring, but because it is a diminishing return on the effort to do so. People have decided that in order to “win” in online games, they will do what is or is not against the rules, hell or high water. Official pvp is its own worst enemy in that regard. I wish it wasn’t so, because pvp can be fun when everyone is playing the same “game”.

I also would like to see the quote from Funcom about this. I just read the TOS again, and seen nothing that states this. I may have missed it somewhere else not listed there, but Ive never heard of this.

It may have come up in the context of exploits which would have been removed. It is clearly that.

A quick search brings up why family sharing is turned off, so it stands to reason, if family sharing is non grata, so are alts.

While I understand why you say that, it would be good if one of the @Community Managers could confirm this, just so we all don’t spend countless posts arguing about whether it’s true or not.

On an unrelated note, there’s something here I’m not sure I understand:

When the ban kicks in, you can’t log in and give stuff to your alts. So how did they know they had to do that? Were they also admin wiped and that’s what alerted them?

The ban works after the next server restart. Before that you can still play and safe your belongings, at least whats left after they wipe your base of the ground. If you have vaults outside your base it can happen that they do not get destroyed. So you can keep them until you can´t login any longer.

Here’s the only post needed:

Clearly, evading a suspension/ban by a secondary account, be it family share or any other means, is going to be severely frowned upon.
