It's impossible not to feel frustrated

This thread truly warms my black little heart :slightly_smiling_face:

The only real solution to builds like that is to have a server moderator periodicaly check the servers.

You all know I am a minimalist builder so, I am apparently not a good judge, or the issue is my brick.

But you also know my opinion of city states, and Roman temple districts.

But if you want to see the best example of why I am waiting at the starting line for a fresh server, there it is.

There are building rules on official severs for a very good reason. To stop dominance. To give all players a fair suck of the sav. If players want to build cities then do it private.

You don’t need a Citidal.

did I?

I disagree with most of the comments. This looks like an awesome build. It’s a building game. They did not abuse land claim and I bet the other people on their server really enjoyed their build too. It all depends on the type of server you are on

Even after it has clearly been show to violate the rules

If you think people with much better rigs than this minimum req. have no issues, no stutter or hiccups, you must be living under a rock or in denial.

no, as I argued many times before…it isn’t the amount of things, but what is done with it. In other words amount of players, and what they are doing on the server. 10 players doing purges…like when the new purge was introduced killed it. But the phenomenon you described in your post is primarely caused by the players own hardware, specifically how fast you can load the assets…not as a grafic, but as an asset.

I mean you statedsomething with a 4090 gpu, which is so far removed from any relevance in the debate that it questions even your comprehension of the issues at hand. If I reduce the resolution and effects…graphic card is irrelevant. Why even bring it up as a benchmark?

your interpretation maybe… but then again, you are known to mistake your opinion with facts.

Builds like that make people leave they are pointless and a drain on servers

So when it comes to building you have no imagination, and resent those who do.

Got it.

What’s the point them, if not to build? Killing bosses for the umpteenth time gets boring.

Plenty to do in a public environment set up to interact with others: combat, gathering together, RPing, raiding, doing races/challenges against others, helping others, KOSing, trading, simply even chatting.

Building, while a huge aspect of the game, isn’t the only and for some playstyles isn’t even used

Anyway, the point is that the Official servers are shared, so that means you have to be respectful and reasonable about how you play on them - even as much as restraining yourself even if you don’t agree. If you want everything in excess, then you do have options off of Officials.

Just as this update has shown: nothing is truly forever, clearly you’ve had to face that reality. That concept also extends to your claim on a server in general regardless of tenure or intent. You share it, you don’t own it.

Oh really are we going to do this?

Anyone want to clue them in?

I am all about the mission, job, challenge, journey step. I have no need to build beyond my required space because I have no need to show off. Either my building skill or my investment in game.

I build my nice functional 3 store hat box, I have no need of frills, they do not get you through a dungeon.

I am a faithful follower of Set, I build no other temples for fear of his wrath. HINT HINT

The fun is in the journey, I get no pleasure from display.

At one time I built dozens of 1/72 scale WW1 scout planes. Detailed down to ■■■■ pit and cables. Authentic paint schemes and decals. You know what I did when I was done with them?

They got binned.

I have all the DLCs. I’m just not motivated to build more then I need to.

Now you want to go cupcake, we can.

I don’t enjoy violence. I don’t enjoy killing and raiding.

Seen enough of that shit irl, combat vet.

I like building nice things. I like sharing ideas and looks with those who create beauty, and was a willing helper of noobs.

Killing bosses is ok, but like I said, when it’s the umpteenth time it loses it’s appeal. If I wanted to kill players, I’d still be on a pvp server, but I found that extremely distasteful, especially with the hacks and cheats.

I think a small town of one core keep and 2-5 extra houses should be fine

The issue is that the official server rules rather contradict the idea one might get when for example watching the ending part of this:

https://youtube.com/mzubhJpbUK8?si=QKFCzRZnJSKmatix&t=93

As your character grows, so does your base or town or whatever you’re building. I think that is heavily implied.

Then one might come to the conclusion that a server called “official” must be in line with that idea.

Is this an excuse for ignoring the official rules or for not giving a damn about other players’ game performance and living space? Probably not, but i can kind of see where one might be coming from.

I won’t insist, no rules were broken, maybe only the rule of your heart. Anyway, spend your time with those who don’t offer decent hardware and the minimum quality required to be in the market, best regards.

Except for the breaking of rules, no rules were broken.

But hey, we’ll just wait for the inevitable ban from overbuilding.

Read the ToS, it’s not. It doesn’t matter if you have 30 people in your clan. It’s still against the ToS.

It’s all about the entitlement ethos. Just how much acreage on a public server do you think is yours?

Wrong, none of it is. That is the point people miss. The pubic servers are a courtesy, they have rules because far too often people build on them like the own them because of this entitlement mind set.

“Oh if they didn’t want me to use all of the DLCs why do they sell them”?

So you have style options, not to build the roman temple district.

“The cut screen shows…”

A misleading video of how the game can be played as it is, not how it is supposed to be played on the pubic servers.

People get away with huge builds because no one wants to be that guy, not because they don’t break the rules. That is why any stystem based on us reporting violations is gong to fail. Even forums. At that point it becomes all about the fells, judgement calls, how you feel about where the build is, how much area it covers, is the lag you or is it really that bad a build?

Even though the rules clearly state not to block POIs I have seen this one island built on, and people get banned repeatedly for building on it. The island is a POI, and it has 2 other POIs on it. Why it’s not simply a no build by now is beyond me.
But then why did the people building there not see 3 map icons pop up and not realize it was a nest of POIs?

It’s one of those things, I have seen some stuff that just make you wonder about people. Like some one get to a new area, smacks that obelisk, looks around, sees 4 open maprooms and thinks “You know what this place needs, a 5th map room”. Just what the hell?

So just because people think they have read the rules, does not mean they actually understand them, or will even give a second thought to them.
