or at least not in every instance. I just figured out how at least SOME of the thralls are dying, especially considering that people are still experiencing thrall deaths despite living settlements being turned off.
As I have stated before and been argued with vehemently…
THERE’S A FREAKING X,Y BUG that has been introduced to the game.
It’s the reason thralls look like they are standing on an invisible pillar in your tavern and around your base at random times. I’ve had thralls standing in mid air just frozen with literally nothing under them. I ended up deleting a pillar I had created to do some archery from myself and a thrall a good 6 foundation blocks away suddenly dropped out of the air. So through experimentation I have discovered that thralls who appear to be stuck in mid air are actually standing on a pillar, table, bar, whatever, that is in some random spot in your camp/tavern. If there is a thrall hanging in mid air when I login I can reproduce this on demand.
If I had to theorize, I’d say that the X,Y component is related to NPCs, including enemies. Why I say this is that I had a leopard which spawns a good 15 foundation lengths away from my base a spawn INSIDE my base today. He almost killed my alchemist, all my crafter thralls being set to passive so they don’t try to run outside and attack anything. My guard thralls (bunch of dalinsia/bezerkers in good gear) couldn’t get inside to kill this leopard because there is no way for an NPC to get inside my base like that. If I hadn’t happened to be online and heard the commotion my alchemist and lord knows who else in my base would have eventually been killed.
Another reason I suspect the X,Y bug is related to the NPC and not the terrain is that I can never reproduce it myself, like I can’t take another NPC/thrall and stick them in mid air next to the one that was stuck there when I logged in. So for whatever reason the pillar or terrain X,Y is corrected, but the thrall which is displayed on screen as 10 blocks away from the pillar is registering as standing at the X,Y coordinate where the pillar is, so the thrall is at the height that it would be were it standing on a pillar.
I have also recently noticed that some of my thralls as well as myself have fallen through solid floors. But it was less like a passed through the floor and more like a teleported half way down through the floor then fell to the next lowest solid terrain.
So from what I can tell it’s not because your thralls were wandering out of your base into danger, and it’s not danger wandering in, it’s because the danger that we perceive to not be a threat because it spawns outside the base at 10,10 can actually have it’s X,Y location glitch out and spawn at 70,70 inside the base.
