Lack of any berserker spawns in the Mounds of the dead

After the Enhanced update, the guaranteed Cimmerian Berserker spawn at Mounds of the Dead was removed. I understand that this change was intentional and was documented in the patch notes.

However, after extensive testing, I believe there may be an issue with the current Berserker spawn tables on the Exiled Lands map.

Testing performed:

  • Approximately 3.5 hours of farming in and around Mounds of the Dead.

  • Additional farming at Stargazer’s Crest.

  • Spawn locations were repeatedly cleared and allowed to respawn.

  • Numerous named NPCs appeared during testing, including:

    • Dalinsia Snowhunter spawns (3 observed).

    • Named sorcerers.

    • Named crafting thralls.

    • A named tanner normally associated with another region (Firis Flickertongue).

The spawn system appears to be functioning correctly overall, as rare and named NPCs are spawning regularly.

The concern is that despite extensive farming and multiple named fighter spawns, not a single Cimmerian Berserker was observed.

This raises the possibility that:

  • Cimmerian Berserkers may have been unintentionally removed from one or more spawn tables.

  • Spawn weights may be significantly lower than intended.

  • There may be a configuration issue affecting Berserker spawns specifically.

I am not requesting the return of the old guaranteed spawn. My concern is whether Cimmerian Berserkers are currently spawning as intended on Exiled Lands.

Could the development team verify that Cimmerian Berserkers are still correctly assigned to the current Mounds of the Dead and Stargazer’s Crest spawn pools?

Thank you for your time.

I can’t speak for the dev team (or the accuracy of the spawn weights), but I can say that I know of several people who have found Cimmerian Berserkers, so it is possible you have just been getting unlucky. From what I understand, they tend to find them in spawns that wander around the bridges in the mounds. I haven’t tested this myself, only passing on what I have been told.

Have had them spawn in the circle with the bearer and up at the star fall ridge camp - just bad rng luck

My first question would be if this was on an official server or private and if private are there mods.

I can say that on an official server a few days ago I got three berserkers plus other named in 4 or 5 hours

Dalinsia shares the same spawn pool as the Berserker, and they have the same spawn chance (~4%).

The fact that you got any Dalinsias shows that there is nothing wrong with the spawn, you just got her instead of them.

buy Siptah DLC; go to Siptah; go to either Accursed Citadel, Temple of the Loon, or Leyshrine of the Goblinoid

there’s your Berserker; just slightly P2W

while I believe they may eventually remove the free Berserker at the Goblin Shrine (and Mitra forbid, Accursed Citadel) I think it’s unlikely they also remove the free named Cimmerian at the Temple of the Loon considering it’s literally the only purpose of that place

I did get several Cimmerian Berserkers in Purge Thrall cages, in case that information helps.

I’m still too chicken to try higher level purges; I was told the meteors will literally delete your base no matter how strong they are so that’s why I just grind surges

The meteors are annoying, but less so than I’d have expected. Some experiences:

  • The most simple way to deal with the meteor guy is to build your base inside a structure, e. g. one of the temples in the jungle city.
  • The damage to your base won’t be that great if you kill the meteor mage as soon as possible. If your base defense is strong enough, you can run out and kill him as soon as he spawns. His base (where he summons the meteors) can be seen very early in the purge; it looks like a teleporter stone circle. For some reason, one or two meteors come down even if you kill him immediately, though.
  • The meteors fall in a circle’ish area around the coffer. If you have a large open space within your base, it might be large enough, so that the meteors only fall within that space, not on your walls.
  • The meteors destroy about one building block’s worth of area and damage the surrounding areas slightly. There seems to be no defense against them; they piece all roofs and blocks until they reach the ground.
  • I’ve done level 9/10 purges on two different open space bases. They got some damage, but nothing catastrophic. The golems are more dangerous to the base imho. Only caveat: If they hit containers, everything within is destroyed apparently. So don’t store your stuff anywhere near the coffer.
  • Currently, I’m doing a completely different approach: Only place the coffer. Put 95k gold into it. Bring one or two thralls as followers. Do not put any thralls in the area. Put a bedroll in some protected spot, e. g. under a nearby tree. Summon the purge. It’s surprisingly easy to defeat the purge with that setup, and I’m a ■■■■■■ player. Not easy, but easier than I’d have expected. I’ve won all but two purges so far - one reset, one I f’ed up. Level 60, epic gear, endgame T4 thralls, but nothing all too fancy. Liu Fei is great for that situation if he has the corrupting AoE damage aura, but all good thralls seem to work fine. Have tried Freya, Liu Fei, the new Zanji of Shem and some random others. Sometimes, a thrall will be downed, and one dies every once in a while, but haven’t lost a thrall so far. This setup is much less stressful and risky than previous purges I did with a regular base due to the exploding golems. Also easier on the hardware.
