Large Boxes / Storage Chests Have Problems

Last week I made a few large boxes which all have 48 slots. Yesterday I made some more of the same large boxes and the ones since yesterday seem to stop at 30. After taking things out and putting in things one by one, I was finally able to get it past 30. It is showing weird behavior and takes time to get it past 30 with back and forth removing and adding items.

If possible, Please make it a straight 48 scroll down box rather than this strange current way.

Thanks Dev Team

Yes! I’ve been looking for anyone posting about this, but it’s been that way for over a week for me. Every chest is the same amount of slots, 30. Not 20, 30, 45 like it should be per the wiki and how it’s been in the past. Adding items to the bottom row, completely filling them up, nothing changes. No additional rows. Just 30 for every chest. No point in making any other chest than the basic wooden box.

One of the things that changed with the move to UE5 is that inventories no longer expand if you fill the bottom row if there are still empty slots above. You have to fill all the available slots before the next row will appear.

Yes, this is irritating from an organisation perspective. All I can suggest is throwing a few extra items into those empty slots - getting the expansion, organising the bottom rows and then pulling the extra stuff back out.

I’ve found that I can usually get more rows to appear by filling the bottom row, then moving something in a higher row from one slot to another. This didn’t seem to always work earlier, but now it seems to be working consistently - possibly server latency also plays a role, as I’ve been playing with fewer people on lately.

I’ll have to give that a try. (Singleplayer, so server latency shouldn’t factor into it for me.)

I thought that as well before posting but I have boxes completely full, 30 items total. No new rows appear. Taking items out, in, repating still never any new rows.

Well then yeah, that’s definitely a bug (assuming you’ve tried it with large chests - which your initial post makes pretty obvious you have…) I’d recommend reporting it to helpshift, that way the devs will hear about it sooner, which gives it a better chance of getting fixed - you probably won’t hear anything directly (just the generic email aknowledging the report), but I’ve reported a few things and seen them fixed in the next hotifx, so it’s worth a go - Contact Us — Conan Exiles Help Center
