This is just ridicules. Either no one reads the rules or no one cares, or they are just too vague.
Nice fresh new.. and gone. New server, less then a month, mega builds, bridges every where, areas blocked off; but it has an open gate. I swear there are people on 14 hours a day, every day doing nothing but processing mats and building.
Noob river already looks like down town Morocco. Looks like some one is working on building all the way across at one point.
The burrows looks like down town Oslo. Some one has built a huge castle on one islands. Has a horizontal elevator run to the obelisk. As usually people are built as close as then can to it and each other.
Some one has build over the south end of the bridge of the betrayer.
Some one has built all over teliths island.
People have built as close as they can to sinner and each other. It’s like tenements or something.
Some one has walled gallmans tomb.
Shall I go on?
This is why I quit last time, and I’m about ready to do it again. I’d report them but why?
Talking to them in local or private chat just means an argument and some one stalking me in the forums. Dropping hint in global just leads to a game of 20 questions and a lot of animosity toward me. And if reporting worked they wouldn’t be there.
Guess it’s time to go back to playing pubg and just let these people build like there are no rules on a private server.
Everything you list is why I don’t play on official servers. I either play on my own server, or on private servers that have enforced community rules. It’s a much better experience than officials.
On a related note, I don’t understand why people view official servers as the only option to play on. Baffles me.
I don’t think you’re wrong & I wasn’t implying that you were, especially since I share your beliefs in that regard.
However, given FC’s inablitly or unwillingness to change the way they enforce the policies on officials, and players’ inability or unwillingness to play with consideration of others in mind, you’re banging your head against the wall, giving yourself needless headaches while there are other, less painful, solutions.
Toured a few older official servers today and was amazed at how built up they are now. Bases literally everywhere with most of them not violating the tos.
This led to the realization that there’s a distinct possibility that even aggressive enforcement of the rules and real time live moderation would make no difference in server performance as things stand now, with the huge influx of players due to the update, and might make it worse.
Let’s say 10 mega bases were deleted and that made room for 20 reasonable sized bases which would happen based on how built up servers are atm. Not only is the building piece count going to remain in the same ballpark but there will be many more thralls and placeables as each base will want their own, plus there’ll be more people on the server overall.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Funcom may well have decided to let the situation work itself out by players voluntarily dispersing in search of better performance.
Elitism for the most part. They often spout the same old tired rhetoric without actual experience to back up their claims as well, while ignoring those who have actual experience which is contrary to their rhetoric.
The two people who responded never once claimed that pointing out blatant ToS violations is wrong. They are pointing out that THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS THAN OFFICIAL SERVERS. Those are two separate things.
Both things can still be correct.
Not at all. On the other hand, just read these forums and you will clearly see that it is clear that there is good percentage of the player base that believes that their actions do not have any consequences at all and no matter how horrific their behavior effects their shared gaming space they do not care and will continue to do so. They also feel that they should not have any responsibility to monitor and or report the clear and blatant violations of others as well (most likely because they know that they themselves are clear and blatant violators of said rules). Thus you have a situation where you cannot possible enforce said rules.
When you have somewhere around 700+ official servers across PC - Steam, PC - Epic Games, PC - Microsoft Games (or whatever it is called), PlayStation and XBox do you honestly think that Funcom has the staff to monitor and police ALL of these servers on a daily basis themselves? That is what a good chunk of the players expect, and that is absolutely ludicrous. Funcom has NEVER had that type of staffing, or even money to hire staffing, just to monitor servers for ToS violations let alone hacking and other issues. That is why they have the Helpshift ticket process (and before that they had another ticket system). But that only works if players ACTUALLY USE IT AND USE IT CORRECTLY AND APPROPRIATELY! Which is, frankly, why it doesn’t work.
Since the definition of what is and isn’t a violation is left up to us, what you see as fine I might see as a violation. That is one of the issues with the ToS system.
It’s not necessarily about server performance. Most of the rules have nothing to do with it. Most I would consider common sense community rules. That is what gets me, many rules are pretty clear, even giving screen cap example, and I can go on the server I’m playing and give screen caps that look like copies of the examples of violations.
If it was about server performance it would be more about storage, animated content, and AI.
The biggest violation most make is land claim violations. Do you have torches ll around your keep? Guess what? Thralls all set out side guarding your base? Guess what? Half a ton of placables all about the are around your base? Guess what?
Those can all be considered land claim abuse.
I’m an American, there is no excuse for not knowing some world geography. Get your head out of you back yard. Google them, learn something.
We going to argue about that?
Expecting players to be moderators whether on a server or a forum is generally a fail.
And this is why I push for physical restrictions to building and expanding no build zones.
After reading this post I’m going to have to agree that the issues here go far beyond server performance in some online game.
I know you have a thing about rules because of your dad and seem to think your posts here will make a difference. I’ll just say good luck in your quest.
Ohhh noooo another DeaconElie thread crying about bases
Nooooo
Deacon you can ALWAYS play in single player mode or private servers theres nothing blocking you from playing in this type of servers and you wont will have to cry about other players bases anymore.
Or you can get courage and try play in pvp where you can bomb any base you doesnt like too
I know you have this deep seated need to demean me to feel better about yourself. But there are rules for reasons, and even though you don’t quite get it, it’s wrong to violate those rules.
Why should i go play solo or on a private server because others are breaking the rules?
Please explain why you think the innocent should be punished for others breaking the rules. Because that is what you are saying, I should be banished because others are breaking the rules.
