Sounds like something that needs a Discord discussion right quick.
But with all the server settings they have for PvP, Survival, Combat, Purge, and Maelstrom one would think there would be some panel settings dealing with Sorcery. Or no?

They is the term I use to describe the ambiguous player(s) that are always on offense, and never can be raided back, because reasons.
They are usually the reasons people make these threads and comments in them. Its a bogeyman people use to describe theoretical situations where they are always on defense and can never use such methods back.
I donāt understand why players act this way. Always complaining about being raided, but never turn the same strategies, weapons, items, spells, or whatnot on their attackers bases. They are ALWAYS defending. Never on offense.
I never understood the mentality of playing on a building damage on server, and never attacking onesā opponents. Whenever Iāve identified a threat, I always attacked first. Maybe Iām (or players like me) the they lol.

Gotcha. Maybe Funcom intended lighting storm to be a solo players weapon against clans large and small and to make them think twice before messing with themā¦much.

Could be. In either case, if a clan is attacking someoneās base with LS, the victims can easily LS them back. The argument that āI canāt be on 5 hours a dayā¦ā applies to attackers too.
Mutually assured destruction doesnāt work if one side isnāt willing to go through with it.

Lol. FC thinking about raid and how it works.

I think MAD is ultimately hollow if both parties get to do it for extremely cheap. You can go kill 10 Sorcerer IIIās in NPC camps and get 5 pouches and wipe a fortress (1 pouch per storm). No need to farm hundreds of bombs to get through most proper bases - just LS it! Lulz!
Iām usually a Tradeway enjoyer on PVP servers. I will raid and take that location and honeycomb the heck out of it because its a long straight tunnel 40 foundations long. However Iāve already tested and yep, anyone can stand outside any point of the tunnel and cast LS and kill anything inside the tunnel based on where they cast it from. I have been raided in that position before and Iāll respect anyone who comes at me with hundreds of bombs, risking losing it all, and coordinating enough to raid all the way to my respawn point. I canāt respect anyone who comes by, casts a single lightning storm, runs off, and my stuff blows up + despawns before Iāve realized Iām being raided on Event Log. Thatās another thing, bombs take time to chew through honeycomb. Iām usually out and about during raid time checking Event Log periodically, and run home to defend if I realize a layer is gone. With LS, you donāt get that.
This raises the question, why do people raid? If youāre not going to have structures, you canāt efficiently store the loads of loot you get when you raid other people. So any nomad wizard just bumming around blasting peopleās castles with lightning bolts is not raiding for loot. May as well chuck it on the ground as soon as you get it.
Edit: I know because I always start out nomad. but as soon as you successfully raid a decent base you basically need to build a base to store the loot, or use the loot to build a base. Iāve learned to just take what I need at that moment for my plans, and leave them the rest of their stuff.

Its kinda a slap in the face. For years we try to get rid of bodyvaults and offline raiding and how far have we come? Zero. Instead of seeing progress we get the opposite.
You now literally pop in a server with two accounts, bodyvault the sh⦠out, raid the server noobs, bodyvault, rinse and repeat. That designed developer pvp is insulting and it encourages offline raiding.

All the doom and gloom predictions. Alright, letās see it. I want everyone here to go full Lightning Storm for the next week as soon as the patch hits. FULL destruction on the servers you play on. LS every base you see to the ground. Cause everyone to retaliate to everyone else.
Then post the server number and we will see if its as bad as you all claim it will be, on the 8th of September. I donāt believe it will be. I dare anyone to prove me wrong.

Have you guys not tried the storm in the last testlive update?, It s been nerfed.
The storm has less accuracy and often strike nothing. And the damage too has been nerfed.
Could be fun. Question anyone try LS against an avatar attack and see how fast it wittles it down ?

What testlive update? If you referring to 3.0.1, I posted this thread after testing on the last testlive update.
I recommend watching the twitch video footage on post #11. Not every lightning bolt kills pieces, never has, never will. But each storm is capable of producing 5 bolts that do 100k damage each in an area. Itās RNG, but storms generally target trees/player/bases rather than the ground, so if you cast it on a base, chances are it will receive at least one 100k damage bolt and this has been my experience in my 15 hours of lightning storm testing on the latest update.

Confirming again. I set all of this up again on current LIVE server (not testlive, downloaded the new update and have played a bit already on a wiped community server). Lightning Storm is still massively overpowered.
Hereās some new twitch footage from today. I also kill a few sorcerers just to show how easy it is to farm the reagent required. Twitch
All I can say right now is holy crap!
I was trying out all the new spells in admin mode just now and thought Iād summon a lightning storm around my own base to see if my thralls would survive, they were fine but instead I ended up wiping out half of my own structure, that damage vs buildings is insane! Surely this is going to get looked at/nerfed some more?
Ok, i tested it again and yes it does tons of damage, but there is some rng involved.
Sometimes the bolts will strike the middle of the base and will completely open it up, sometimes you ll get nothing from it.
That makes no sense at all. How does it just pass through the outer shell of the base ?! What is the point of having ceiling covering and walls if it just strikes right through those barriers like they are not even there.

Even if it didnāt attack the center of the base, its still completely overpowered. Attackers do not need easier/cheaper raiding tools - bombs are easy enough already to farm en masse.

I tested lightning storm on official pvp server on a large flotsam base with a maproom closed by flotsam also. There was one NPC guarding it and he acted like a lightning rod, it only managed to destroy 1 door and a line of foundation, on flotsam! I think the bigger the base is, less effective the lightning storm will be, so it seems that it s not as imbalanced as you claim.

Yup⦠as usual people jump to conclusions before they know what theyāre talking about. Weeks later the full picture reveals itself and all those people either hide under a rock for a week or get even louder still clueless.

Flotsam or T3, it doesnt matter, most bolts are 1-5k dmg, with every storm delivering 5 bolts worth 100k damage. Do you really think that is balanced? Anyone can farm a few Sorcerer IIIās from NPC camps and boom they already have 20-100 dragonpowder/explosives worth of damage per leather pouch. In what world is that balanced, that you can have no base, farm some npc, then go raiding?
Itās not balanced. Because to get 20-100 dragonpowder you need to have a base setup, all sorts of farming (tar/brimstone/demon blood, jars, thralls to speed up the process). Any sorcerer can research the tree then go nomad and raid anyone by farming npcs. That is not ok. If you play Rust, thatās like finding a rocket launcher and rockets by farming the road. Itās nonsense. There needs to be real risk and ongoing investment to use Lightning Storm, not farm 10 npcs and go raid.
I posted this 3 days ago. How much testlive testing have you done with Lightning Storm? Iāve done 20 hours of testing at this point, so much that Iām so sick of casting storm over and over with the delays in between spell path choices.
Do you care to share some footage or screenshots, some actual evidence, that LS isnāt as OP as Iām making it out to be? Or are you going to keep keyboard warrioring with zero facts?
