Suggestions:
I’ll get the suggestions out of the way first, as the list of errors is quite long.
- The journeytype_survive icon does not fit.
It depicts a pick, but picks are for acquiring. There is already an icon for acquiring, and that icon is used in all instances when a pick should be used. The survival icon is never used for a step requiring a pick.
I would suggest changing journeytype_survive icon to a campfire icon instead. I even made an example of what that might look like using the campfire map icon:
- The experience rewards for journey steps are really imbalanced, awarding far too much during the early levels (fully completing the first journey and doing absolutely nothing else will level a brand new player up to level 8) and utterly negligible amounts at later levels.
I made up a formula for more even experience distribution:
5 * minimum player level require to complete journey * journey step * journey series
For example, the first journey can be fully completed at level 1, so the first step of Survivor would be
5 * 1 * 1 * 1 = 5
That is actually the same amount as the first step already awards, but the final step of the journey would be
5 * 1 * 25 * 1 = 125 compared to 550 it currently gives, which is way too much for that early.
Now let’s look at Warsmith, the fourth of a four-part series of journeys that will require your character to be level 60 by the end of it. The first step would be
5 * 60 * 1 * 4 = 1200 which is much more reasonable for an end-game journey than the 5 it currently gives.
Ah, but this new formula would be a lot of work to implement because the devs would have to figure out what the minimum level is for every journey… Don’t worry, I already did that part for you.
Minimum levels required to complete every journey
(Island) Survivor=1, (Island) Survival Shelter=3, Warrior=1, Soldier=10, Rogue=15, Archer=1, Sharpshooter=10, Tanner=10, Alchemist=15, Armorer=10, Expert Armorer=15, Master Armorer=60, Tinkerer=28, Blacksmith=10, Steelsmith=30, Hardened Steel Tools=50, Warsmith=60, Mason=25, Homesteader=14, Master Mason=35, Thrall Taker=10, Beast Master=13, Overlord=50, Outrider=20, Farmer=18, Brewer=37, Chef=29, Master Chef=55, Mountaineer=10, Potionmaker=30, Delver=60, Dismantler=37, Purge Defender=30, Raider=35, Sorcerer=20, Surge Defender=1* (30), Artificer=25, (Island) Adventurer=60, (Island) Cartographer=25, Vault Raider=1* (50), Dungeon Delver=1* (50), Warpainter=22, Acolyte=12, High Priest=50
*Note that Surge Defender, Vault Raider, and Dungeon Delver are technically all doable at level 1, but that would not be practical, so I put suggested minimum levels with those ones.
And also,
Every journey series position
(Island) Survival Shelter=2, Homesteader=3
Soldier=2
Rogue=2
Sharpshooter=2
Expert Armorer=2, Master Armorer=3
Steelsmith=2, Hardened Steel Smith=3, Warsmith=4
Master Mason=2
Beast Master=2
Overlord=2
Master Chef=2
Potionmaker=2
High Priest=2
*All journeys not listed are 1.
(I acknowledge, even with the above numbers, updating the experience for all 441 steps used in the game is still not going to be a simple task, but I think the effort would be worth it.)
Errors:
On to the errors. I will divide these into three categories, inconsistent icons, spelchekker, and bad directions. Some of these have already been reported individually, but I will include everything here regardless.
Inconsistent Icons
- Alchemist_6: Uses journeytype_acquire, should use journeytype_survive
- Armorer_2: Uses journeytype_knowledge, should use journeytype_craft
- Armorer_3: Uses journeytype_knowledge, should use journeytype_acquire
- Sorcerer_5: Uses journeytype_build, should use journeytype_craft
- Tanner_2: Uses journeytype_knowledge, should use journeytype_craft
Spelchekker
- Alchemist_3 Instruction: “Access the Alchemist Bench by pressing” → “Alchemist’s Bench”
- Brewer Description: “Brewers craft a variety of alchoholic drinks to sustain themselves in these wild lands.” → “alcoholic”
- Homesteader_3 Title/Instruction: “Unlock the Torch Bearer Knowledge” “Unlock Torch Bearer from the Knowledge menu.” → “Torchbearer”
- Mason_1 Instruction: “The first step to becoming a carpenter is learning to make a Carpenter’s bench.” → “Carpenter’s Bench”
- “MasterChef” → “Master Chef” or “Masterchef” this weird capitalization is not actually visible in-game, because the journey titles use an all-capital font, however, since the wiki draws raw data from the devkit, it is causing issues there.
- Potionmaker_11 Title/Instruction: “Unlock the Potion Maker Knowledge” “An Improved Firebowl Cauldron and Alchemists’ bench will be of great service to you as a potion-maker. Unlock Potion Maker from the Knowledge menu.” → “Potionmaker” “Alchemist’s Bench”
- Steelsmith_7 Title: “Unlock the Steel tools Knowledge” → “Steel Tools”
- Thralltaker_2 Title: “Access or Place a Wheel of pain” → “Wheel of Pain”
Bad Directions
- Brewer_10 Instruction: “However - this may be a justified sacrifice if you are freezing or wish to go into battle under the influence of berserk strength.” → Getting drunk used to provide a +3 strength buff, but no longer provides such a buff following the attribute overhaul.
- HighPriest_3 Title/Instruction: “Assign a High Priest to the Altar” “By assigning a High Priest thrall to an Altar,” → High priests are T2, but this step requires T3 or T4.
- IslandAdventurer_3 Instruction: “Fragments of Power are rare relics that can be found by exploring dangerous areas such as the Unnamed City or defeating challenging enemies.” → The Unnamed City does not exist on Siptah, “Pools of the Grey Ones” might be more appropriate.
- Mason_6 Instruction: “By placing wood in your dryer, you will create Dry wood and Tar.” → “Resin”
- Steelsmith_3 Instruction: “Place bark and hide in the Dryer’s inventory and activate it by pressing the Play button. After the hide has dried, take the tar from the Tannery inventory for yourself.” → “Tannery’s” “tanned”
