Long reach weapons for guards 🧹

Yeah the reason I didn’t “solve” my issue by posting guards is that it would just reward the trolls by letting them farm world bosses on my guards. I like posting “decorative” thralls, that is decked in appropriate attire and performing emotes to help the illusion of life, but that also means I won’t have 50 identical lvl 20 RTHS’ers around.

Generally, yes, as long as you’re prepared for them. The ones that are hard can be a serious pain in the ass though. Like having waves of dozens of Accursed just appear in the middle of your base and throw explosive orbs everywhere. I think all I had left after that purge finally ended was a few foundation blocks and a single section of wall.

Me too, but sometimes official servers ain’t the place for this! That’s why I want a way to have RP servers official, so I will join this community and never come back to the others!

And that’s why my 1st priority when choosing a site is “purge-proof”.
It must have 1 entrance, no more no less, so I don’t have to split force and the purge don’t spawn inside base. (single-player, no Siptah)

There are some base designs made for guards with spears, I didn’t build and test it myself, but creative youtuber by the name of smskcntr did build it and even test it against purge in this video:

I’ve seen a lot of people being afraid of rockslides here.
I just want to point out that the thing has a mere 4k HP… but 7200 armor… however a blade of seven winds kills them in like 3 combos if you can avoid the knockdowns during that time, which is the big danger, so thralls distracting it can be nice.

Thanks for the data. I have always lived in Rockslide’s shadow as it was my first ever purge experience. Almost made me delete game instantly

I kill skeleton dragons frequently so I can give Dragon Bows to all my archers , and I keep them behind crenelated walls.
Now, I wanted to have some thralls with reach melee weapons behind fences, closer to mobs.

Last purge the final Rosckslide killed me, the game didn’t load, and by the time I restarted he game the Rockslide had killed also three RHTSs and a couple of greater bears. The Rockslide was dead too, the RHTSs archers helped a lot.

So I pissed off rockslide . Using a bow 3 foundations high of sandstone kept him on his side of the island simple palisades on his side did not seem to affect him. However he didn’t use his big attack perhaps because of standing in the palisades got him down to half health died and froze will set out some good archer’s and bring some equipped berserkers for next test. On the other side of foundations people have access to our map room and fountains.

I failed. Tried to challenge Rockslide at Fingerfang. He spotted me first, chased me like a train and slapped my guts out of my throat. Yet, I barely survived when RHTS finally hit him. I took out the hammer and charged into his infinite waltz / death whirl like a barbarian! Two seconds later, I died like a maggot.
The damage is obviously glitched!

See? you can just do something like this… the only trick is to avoid getting chain knockdowns and if you do get knocked down, drink a potion before he does it to you again… Aside from that part making it look a bit clumsy, he’s really not hard. It’s all about the equipment and setup… You’re essentially countering what he has… He has lots of armor… I have a weapon with 100% armor penetration. He’s doing knockdowns, I picked up auto-healing perks so I heal when I can’t act as well.

Yea ofc, the game has lots of spear type weapons What they meant above is that thralls are just really bad at using them. Typically they won’t even do half the damage than what they do with 1h maces. So it’s very inefficient for them.

Dude you made the fight look like a piece of cake!
Me, on the other side, Skelos Master + 10 Vitality, one death whirl and I am below 25%
What I found so disappointing is thralls can’t disatract him effectively. I mean, yeah they are fighting each other while I approach him from behind, then the death whirl begins, it has an instant multi-hitting cheating knocking-down hitbox right behind his azz despite the animation that he barely lifts an arm.
Anyway, I will never touch him until I grind out the Seven Winds.

My Thrall has got a 1H mace, and it is awesome!
I will try spears and 2H swords for Thralls behind fences, hopefully they will harm purge mob (it may come in the next couple of days).

I placed two small low towers with one archer on top and a light 4 blocks away the main gate, just to try to make sure the purge spawns in front of my fortress .
