If surges would be automatic, players would be more involved with the whole feature.
Not many players did surges in the past, and with the addition of npc camps, surges have become obsolete.
People did lots of wild surges and almost no player generated surges. We can see what was successful and what was not.
We can have surges start randomly, maybe 2-3 times a day, be visible on the map 10min before starting.
Make them t1-t2 just to test the waters, I’m sure they’ll become an attraction in no time. RIght now, surges are “meh, not really worth the hassle”.
I’m sorry I hated surges. I make my camp on violet isle island. I didn’t like how there was orange portal right above my camp with a thrall literally right outside my house.
