Player A Started in 2018 and has been playing for 5 years. They have a budget of $8 for the game after purchase. Battlepass is outside their budget. They didn’t buy any of the Age of Sorcery Battlepasses, nor any of the Age of War. If their budget raises in the future due to having an expendable income change, they still can’t buy what they missed.
Player B started today. They have a budget of $1,000. They can’t get the last few battlepasses. They have a literal blank check with revenue Funcom will never see because of it. And they aren’t interested in the current one.
Player A doesn’t get what they want.
Player B doesn’t get what they want.
Funcom doesn’t get paid.
Lose lose lose.
Now let’s put the Battlepasses up for sale.
Player A may get to buy what they want in the future.
Player B will buy everything they want immediately.
Funcom gets paid in both situations.
Win win win.
This isn’t even suggesting to go back to the old DLCs. Because yes… they were not monetarily feasible. They went on sale (and if you knew how to exploit Steam you never paid full price even on release day of the DLC), and Valve took a 30% cut on top.
This is simply a request by many to allow past Battlepasses to be purchasable. They don’t even have to include the crom coin awards, just the items. Could just be a bundle on the Bazaar. That’s all that is being requested.
People have money they want to spend. Why tell them no?
