God bubbles were removed and now avatars can be 2 shot after requiring so much essence, how much will be taken from the religion system before its given some features back. How about powers and base defense, you made avatars weaker now without offering anything back.

Hopefully when an Age of Civilizations or Age of Gods comes out.
As matters stand, they generally aren’t worth the space to place the altar, forget the grind to level it.

You carnt just say don’t even bother the Altars are really the only chance a solo player has.
If you’re trying to solo, then you need to play like a rat or a cat.
Rat means you head and scurry away anytime something bigger comes around and you feed on the scraps left behind.
Cat means you make yourself useful and follow the whims of your masters and hope they decide that they like you enough that they don’t just skin you alive.
You abandon your dignity and pride either way if you decide to solo in PVP. That’s just how it is.

Rubbish that’s what the Altars are for you can be rat if u want lol
Then figure it out without your false gods. Or get skinned.
Heck why not be the hero you think you are and try the head on approach. Just respawn over and over.
…
Perhaps other People’s altars.
There is a distinct satisfaction in leveling someone’s ego monument while they are away raiding this one’s decoy base with an avatar called at their own altar.
But as a solo, defending a full altar space for what?
With the bubble popped, it’s basically useless unless you can power farm from clean land to true name between windows.
Even then, you cannot both attack and defend.
You either are on the offensive, at which point even a single enemy erases your marked on the map tier 3 altar, or you defend, and they grind you down, ending your build in the space between dying and respawning and, of course, you cannot win while defending. At best you survive.

This sounds so depressing

Exactly which is why the Altars need a revamp and sooner rather then later, they need to be more robust so that it offers more defense and since the avatars can be two shot from a ballista the zeal cost should be decreased and the timer and damage increased

I’ll still use gods they can still do damage I require, just wish funcom would stop picking on the Altar / religion feature, because you choose to solo that makes me a second class citizen.
Have you played PvP in this game?
It’s a despair event horizon hurdle course.
It’s great!
Very rarely has this one found so many opportunities to grief opponents who so thoroughly deserve it!
But back to @Scorpy 's point.
This one agrees in principle but disagrees in execution.
There need to be a lot more passive defense options. Traps, wards, ect…
This game has long since made it clear defense is inferior to offense and mass destruction is the goal.
That is not necessarily good. Sword and Shield should compete more.
But altars are not how it should be done.
The religion as defense system was not smooth and is no substitute for actual defensive options.
This one doesn’t want to see a retread of the
old errors.
This one wants to see entirely new and exciting errors!

The Altars could spawn defenders near attackers using stored manifestation of zeal if you set the altar to defend it would make bases much more challenging, the new event chapter 4 shows exactly what should happen and I hope it’s prelude of things to come for the Altars.

This one doesn’t hate the idea of a Zealot congregation marker that works like the Mercenary banners, but is acquired using zeal and produces different troops based on what religion they are zealots for.

Yes, good idea, would like to resurrect those that come, and if those npc can be set to the altar to worship to generate zeal that would be good.
