Motion Detector

, ,

Hello everyone

On Ark there is a building piece that will notify the clan or the owner of a base that a player or Ai is within the proximity of the building or in the base.

How about if that motion detection object to be added here to Conan Exiles?

And what would be the pros and cons for it ?

Would a player know during gameplay or via event log what happened with the base when he/she was away or offline?

Will a motion detection object like it will decrease griefing and harmful trolling?

Whilst handy, probably wouldn’t fit with the lore

I like the idea but I think it can’t be a building piece. I also think it don’t fit to the lore this way.

But I read here one suggestion some days ago.
Just put a dog or other animal as watchdog and it is making sounds. Or a station where you need to put thralls or pets and it’s making a sound from a horn or something like this

The new pet Guard dog can work as motion detection object?

Perhaps some kind of sorcery spell?
I haven’t read all the Conan stories yet but is there anything with a wizard casting something like that?
Early warning type deal?

Would love to know how often others use my map room. I have it publicly accessible but just curious if people find it useful.

Similar for transport stones.

Hrm, you could possibly come up with something more ‘lore friendly’ by using sorcery as a means to achieve this.eg: some kind of magical barrier that alerts you when someone approaches or crosses it.

I mean I can’t think of anything immediately off the top of my head as far as Conan-lore goes, but I don’t think anyone would get too upset about something like the example I just gave , so long as it ‘fits’ within the world of Conan.

Then again, people get upset all the time over ridiculous stuff, so what do I know? :stuck_out_tongue:

As far as lore goes probably half the people on the Forum were not born when I read the books my Father had I sure don’t remember early 70,s. Never read the Graphic novels if that’s the right word. My wife and I were dating when the first Conan movie came out or were we recently married . PS at the time was a 6 plex theater. Last time I was there it was a Best Buy like 15 years.

I don’t know the answer to that, but I’m pretty sure it fits within what the lore allows. Adhering to the lore is not so much about including only things for which you have concrete examples in the source material, as it is about not including stuff that goes against what the source material established.

Having Set heal cripples would be lore-breaking, but having a spell that draws demonic attention to your dwelling to detect intruders wouldn’t.

They had this when thralls and pets would aggro while on guard duty. I could track player movements on my map rooms based on which animals were disturbed on the event log.

Sounds logical. Makes sense to me :+1:

Oh like “panther had returned”? Those types of messages?

Those removed now? I didn’t know

Haven’t placed anything except a dancer and cute fluffy cats since migrated servers after they shut down the original

Yep. Back in 2019/2020 It really was my way of tracking everyone’s movements as I kept a track of who was on and when and cross referenced it to the event log. I can’t even remember when it changed but it did and all that intel potential
gone.

Btw I think we are neighbors in one of the PvE servers near the dregs. Fires of Koth sound familiar?

And now that feature is no more, right?

Correct

at least them showing up on the logs. Guarding thralls can still be on attack mode if you attack all designate them but they do not “return” on the log.

Can the thralls do that on pve-only?
