The fire took out two apartments and is being investigated as arson. By the grace of God, he and his daughter (3) got out in time.
Please don’t try this at home. If you need to wipe, use software,not accelerant

I am sorry to hear that happened and I’m glad everyone is okay, but I hope you won’t take it the wrong way if I ask why this is in the bugs forum. I’m just curious.

Wait are you saving they tried to “secure erase” an old hard drive by lighting it on fire? If not, then I’m thoroughly confused.

A kind gentleman was using his server-grade home computer as a dedicated server for a handful of games, including Conan Exiles. The server went down unexpectedly a few days ago, and it was later made known the reason for the shutdown was that the building had caught fire. OP pic is the aftermath. I, and a few others, had game characters on that machine.

OK, so if the server owner didn’t start the fire by trying to wipe a disk thru dubious means, then what does this mean?
Jim’s making it sound like the server owner did something so irresponsible as to be considered possible arson by investigators…

Investigated as arson? Likely should be under investigation as attempted murder with arson as a secondary charge since it was in an apartment complex.
My X and I have conversations about arson and how he is doing well in his job and new marriage.

Well to be fair, humor is really hard these days now that ridiculousness that has been used as jokes for centuries is considered serious arguments.
