My character on Official Server 1818 of the last 4 years. That I play almost daily. Has been erased and replaced by a character I never play from the Isle of Siptah Official Server 6155. I was told by numerous sources there would be no conflicts with the server merge. The game did not ask me which character I wished to keep. I want my original 1818 character back. How do I do that? It was your plan to delete 6155 so I assume you have a fix for this or it is a BUG.
What sources? Probably a good idea to ask them to give you your character back. All official comments on the matter that I’m aware of have been that you need to transfer characters to avoid possible conflicts. Don’t get me wrong, what has happened to you sucks, and I’m sorry for your loss. But the official announcment has been all over the place for two weeks - on social media, on steam, on the start screen of the game (probably on the launcher, but I don’t use that so can’t be sure).
The announcement said characters transferred off Official Servers would not be able to transfer back after the update. I was not told to delete my Siptah character to avoid conflicts with existing characters. I was told to deconstruct my base and load it onto companions to save it. I think Funcom didn’t want to say how bad the impact would be from double character conflicts and were too lazy to add a script that would ask players what they wanted to do in the event of a conflict.
Many YouTube guides said you would now get 2-3 characters per server so no conflicts and no need to buy 2-3 copies of the game to have a crafter and warrior build available for pvp. And again Funcom did not say your current character would be erased. They said to deconstruct and load your base onto followers.
I’m pretty sure if you checked here on the forum, we were speculating about how this would go down. In the past, the new character typically overwrites the old one… which seems to be the case here. We all stated that if you checked the server merge list and your siptah server was being merged to your EL server, you NEEDED to transfer ahead of time to a different server or risk losing one of the characters. While I sympathize with you and understand how frustrating the loss can be (I’ve been there myself numerous times), there was plenty of discussion here leading up to the transfer day that you could have made efforts to prevent it. Now we know exactly what was gonna happen, and it seems our suspicions were correct.
Oh no. Companions/Followers do not transfer over and I was told to load my base onto followers to save it. And this affects other clan members on 1818. Their characters will be erased also.
Correct. That stuff transfers… the character is what overrides. This worked the same way during transfers the last time as well. Always one character.
Edit: sorry, I misread your comment, or it was changed. I’m more inclined to believe the former. Anyway, I can’t speak to the followers not transferring correctly. Sorry. However, as I stated, one character one server. If other players did the same as you and did not transfer to DIFFERENT server than the one they already had a character on, they were likely effected in the same way.
Anyone who was involved with the playtest had to agree to an NDA. Anyone making a guide on youtube was either breaching the NDA, or talking out of their a**e. Either way, they probably weren’t good people to be listening to.
Well Funcom needs an editor to check their announcements for what is most important to players not some trivial cosmetic pass. I feel they did not want to talk about the negative results from the non-Upgrade. Hey our characters are erased so not an Upgrade.
I agree they should have been a bit more specific. The question was however brought up and server transfers were turned on ONLY for Steam, specifically to remedy this potential problem. Next time there’s an expected update coming, I strongly recommend that you check the forums and see the discourse surrounding it prior to the update. Many of us have learned how Funcom works and it’s not really reliable. We do it out of necessity, not always excitement. Tbh, I’m on PlayStation, and we’ve been burned a lot. I’m actually keeping tabs on this update because of the possibility we get it in the future, I’d like to know what to expect.
No the remedy was for players not wishing to use Unreal 5, but those characters transferred would not be able to return to official UE5 at a later date. They would not be the correct version anymore. So this was Funcom’s main concern. I was not told my current character on 1818 would be erased. That should have been in Bold Print.
My character got erased and I didn’t even have a Siptah character. She was just chilling after months of inactivity around I5 near executioner’s cave on 1726, and after Enhanced update, poof. Just a character creation screen. I submitted a ticket but it was the weekend. Now it’s Tuesday and still no reply.
